I know one thing I don't want to hear one word about is the IAMPF.

I'll keep what I have, just increase my 401k match.

Agree 100%. The iam is pushing their pension plan and the members want no part of it. The twu is going along with the associations plan on getting us to participate. I see no interest on either union to up our 401k contribution. They are actually going in the opposite direction. We need to get theses cards filled out to trigger a vote. Even the twu and iam supporters must see and realize the association is worse then either of them. We need to vote on this and let the membership decide. I think we can all live with ourselves if we voted and accepted the memberships wishes.

You are correct.  Someone above has posted how the association has been talking to the media and not the membership, I don't think they can do anything until they are certified by the NMB.  However they could put out information on what and how they are planning to nego once they are certified. With 3 weeks and 4 days left we are all hoping you guys can get this done.

The IAM and TWU leadership , to date , has shown the membership nothing to warrant any support from the membership.

They could have, and should have, put the Association up for a vote, internally, before going to the NMB.
I think we all know how that would have went.
They could have then put up the TWU or IAM up for a vote, internally.

Regardless of how that vote would have turned out, the winner would at least have some credibility with the membership.

Right now, the Association has none.
 
There is nothing to do until the NMB decides, copies of the agreement, Q&As and updates have been given all along from the IAM/TWU.
 
When the NMB makes its ruling, information and what happens next will be put out.
 
The way i read it the apfa gets a minimum of 5.5%, up 9.9% CONTRIBUTIONS(not matching), until 1/2019 and then they will change to the sorry 5.5% like we get, for the final year of the contract. And since the majority of m&e is over 50, we would be getting the 9.9…………….

I do not know that they would. I am just saying that one of the strengths at the negotiating table for the company has always been their healthy Pension Funding. With the freezing of that pension, an increase in matching could be a method of gaining some compensation.

I agree, however how did the TWU/IAM Association go to the NMB representing these two entities and their members, when they don't exist?

It really is a paradox that the NMB is going to decide on in the next few weeks.
If they follow the UA Dispatchers decision last October, where they put PAFCA on the ballot but not TWU, even though they both filed jointly, then they will put TWU on the ballot and deny the IAM a place on the ballot, as well as the Association, due to lack of showing of interest.

Reading the NMB rules, and following recent precedent, that's what they should do.
However, they've already demonstrated they will do,whatever the hell they want to, so hold on.

That's how I read it as he NMB can and will do whatever it wants to.
Certainly not consistent.
When AMFA filed for the UA M&R they lumped in planners and SAMC.
You folks will not know what the criteria is until it is issued.
Lot of $hithouse lawyers here speaking as if they know but the final result might be totally different.

Most likely, yes. When the Association applies for representation the choices will be for the Association or no union, unless an outside union intervenes and appears on the ballot.

However, having a 401k match either as a supplement (for everyone) or as an alternative to the IAMNPF (for TWU members) is also a goal in negotiations. Ultimately, the members will decide to approve or reject whatever is negotiated with the carrier.

The best alternative is having a defined benefit plan with benefits comparable to what was taken from us in the bankruptcy process. If that cannot be accomplished we will try to provide as many alternatives as possible.

This is from the TWU? What is the NMB saying? I do not believe anything the TWU posts.
