NO IFE on domestic A/C

Somehow, it wouldn't surprise me that as soon as we pull the IFE's, WN will be announcing new IFE's on their fleet for long haul non-stops.

They are quite good at making a mockery at our failures.

I know! I sent an email to mgmt wondering why they are still there. They are dirty and disgusting, so full of germs. The funny thing is, EVERYONE always asks for pillows and blankets and when you say you don't have any more that they are all out they get so mad. Huh? You mean you didn't bring a sweater? Do you ask for a blanket and pilllow when you go to the movie theatre or to a restaurant?

As for the IFE, yes, many times it doesn't work, but if we worked for a company that actually took care of items when they needed fixing instead of ignoring and if we showed up-to-date movies, then there wouldn't be a problem. This month we've been showing Chocolat. Hello! That is such as old movie. It may be good but it is old. Not all are bad though I will admit. We do show some newer ones, but not always. One thing that really needs to be taken care of is the IFE on the A330. That is a total nightmare!

As for them showing Chocolat is says in the US Airways magazine that they are showing Oscar film favorites.

Yeah, ever since Tempe started running the show the movie selections are crappy. I think they pick the cheapest package. Although, one thing that HP did, that the old US did not...(I know, can you believe it)....they change the movie during the middle of the month....that is, if the right movie is put on the aircraft. my experience was that half the time the movie was the same and not switched out.

Wrong again. Before 9/11, US changed the movies mid month. Fact.

There are actually some pretty good movies playing right now, ever seen "The Bucket List"? Pretty funny!

I don't think that is true. I could be wrong, but I remember that I was essentially commuting betwee PHL-LAS and PHL-SAN right before the merger and would see the same movies over and over each month and one thing I liked after the merger was the change out.

I am telling you with 100% certainty that the old US changed movies mid month... Stopped sometime before 9/11, and started in the Wolf era.... so, 1998 ish maybe?

Oh, and I hate to break it to ya, but CO is showing almost EXACTLY the same movies we have this month(see CO.com):

Spiderwick Chronicles, Fools Gold, Bucket List, Juno, etc....

So I guess the CO movies are pretty crappy, too?

 OK, so US served breakfast on PHL-ORF flights in 1989. But they didn't at the time of the merger. So, I stand corrected, although US may have changed out movies sometime during their existence, in the year or 2 preceding the merger, US did not do that and I like the fact that HP did change the movies and continued that practice.

We're in July now and the movies have changed. Last two flights I worked we showed 21 and Nims Island.

Unless the cost savings are significant then I think this is a bad idea …our competition might be able to effectively use this against us .. Americans love TV, take away the boob tube and they might defect in droves to another airline , even if they weren’t actually going to end up watching anything on board the A/C .. just the thought of not having a TV on board sends shivers down my spine … what are people to do ? talk to each other and look out the window ?

Huh? The listings in the magazine would’ve been wrong half the time then.

Jetblue and Southwest are right now running advertisements that are aimed at US.

Jetblue's ad is really pretty funny. Very clever. Tongue and cheek. Check it out. It's running all day long here in CLT and elsewhere on TV. We should be so clever.

And Southwest has been running full page ads in the newspapers.

Yes, I think this is something that will bite US in the rear.
