Another transcon today-another profitable,uneventful trip.
Over $150 in revenue that was an expense last month.

Which had you rather do, give US Airways 2 bucks for a coke or give it to the Charlotte airport food vendors? I for one would like to keep US Airways around as long as I can.Couldnt have said it better myself! We should have been doing this for years. The only reason people took a free drink was just because it was FREE! If you could see the stuff that we would throw away.
In the last seven days of working, I have not seen one angry customer.
Actually, I'm frightened at how well this thing rolled out -- especially since management did nothing except issue a press release and create a horrible new form that isn't on most aircraft yet. Passengers seem to be taking this better than the F/A's are. Accounting is a bi*ch for the B F/A, but I must say that people are buying beverages on-board. Bottled water seems to be the big seller. Ironicly, on my 4-day over launch weekend, the west coast passengers were the most resistant to the "a la carte" pricing. The east coast passengers just said yes (with correct change) or no. One west coast passenger that complained loudly about the "a la carte" pricing, but still purchased a $2.00 bottle of water (with a $100 bill) was given a chilled bottle of water, a cup of ice (and 98 one dollar bills in change). ;-)
$1 Coffee, $2 Cokes, it doesn't take long. Like I said, end of a 4-day, and those east-coasters had correct change. I didn't have to make the deposit, but I'd love to see how the Brinks machines are going to deal with multipule $500+ deposits with all one dollar bills, per day.
I went to turn money into Brinks and the safe was full. Just put it in the old safe where BOB from islands go.$1 Coffee, $2 Cokes, it doesn't take long. Wel allow me to be blunt. I end up in Y on a 1 to 2 hour flight that I paid nearly $1,200.00 and you tell me I can't have a coke for free???? Well I got two arse cheeks and Doug can kiss both of them.
The above statement is the issue.
How many eites will say/do exactly what I just said?
Will the extra revenue from coach offset however many elites ultimately leave?
I have no earthly idea and neither does anyone else. Just remember pendulums swing in both directions. I still think this industry is in a world of hurt even if the price of oil drops to $60/per bbl.
We haven't even begun to see the upheaval IMO. Union Contracts are expiring, Public is increasingly fed up with airlines in general. I really question whether the airlines will ever recover? Any airline not named CO & WN are not safe IMO from a trip to BK over the next 5 years regardless of the price of oil. Some will not emerge from that visit to BK.
[/crickets_chirping]LOL Jim,
They never let facts or reality get in their way do they???
So what was the RASM???
