No Free Coffee on US Airways

The drama over all of this amazes me. Some are getting way too stressed out. If you don't like the change, QUIT!! I am so sick of this. Someone complains. SHOCKER! Give them the magazine and point to the email address..simple as that and move on. I'm sorry but if you get on the plane looking for trouble, there's a big chance you will get it. In four days of in and out island hopping, nobody flipped out. The flying public will get use to this just like they did the BOB. Trust me!

I think I'm gonna be one of those pesky passengers tomorrow. I'm flying on a $950 r/t PHL-CLT (couldn't avoid it). I think that qualifies me for a free glass of water!

This is where I get angry with management. IT could simply have a one complimentary soda with this ticket written on the boarding pass to give to the f/a's for those that have the kind of ticket you have. They just don't think!

I don't agree with what she did. I wouldn't have done it. Her meeting was yesterday or it's today. I just wanted to show everyone how this is effecting people. I don't like selling drinks either it but it looks like its here to stay. I just think the company could have done a lot better job preparing the public and making this easier on us.

She doesn't deserve to be pulled off the line over this.

A slap on the wrist and a " go forth and sin no more " talk about PA announcements over the phone would have been enough.

It seems as though the spirit of Adolf Hitler is alive and well in PHX.

flybynite, the west f/a's have had a history of inappropriate announcements. Inflight was constantly having to remind and discipline f/a's about merger PA's that were not appropriate. I have to wonder how much of this stems from history dictating and nipping this one in the butt or management actually being heavy handed.

This is yet another shining example of how not to manage people. This is why US Airways can NEVER and I Mean NEVER hope to effectively compete with CO or WN.
All Tempe needs to do is to watch the Airline series on A&E, but, it seems they cannot learn lessons from success, instead "blaming" SWA success on the fact that they fuel hedged, or some other pathetic rationale, ignoring the (rather obvious to thee and me) elephant in the room. It is the downright dangerous management style of Tempe (now) that condemns US to subnormal results.

Like a political smear, a "hit" like with the FA, like the "hit" on the eight pilots, becomes nothing more than the Swiftboat lies and misrepresentations of 2004. It is a lazy and dangerous management style that relies on lazy employees, among others, thinking (with absolutely no evidence) that the people involved "must" have done something wrong. It is what enabled the Nazis in the '30s, giving rise to the saying that ends with, ".... then they came for me .....".

Employees can stop this. All it takes is a demand for information. Make the circumstances public, if for no other reason than to keep rogue management elements in check and to force management, at a minimum, to be more efficient.

Does anyone know how Coca-Cola's contract works with US Airways? Handing out complimentary soda's is one thing, charging $2.00 a can seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen if Coca-Cola isn't profiting from this decision somehow.

If CocaCola was GIVING USAirways the soft drink to be GIVEN away for free, you might have some argument here. But USAirways pays for those soft drinks. CocaCola has its profits from that sale and they have no rights to ask for another cut. (Does the 7Eleven send CocaCola a commission check when they sell a can for $1.50.) What they could do is raise the price they sell it to USAirway for, but that is probably precluded from the marketing contract.

EXACTLY! I highly doubt Coca Cola is supplying USAirways with COMPLIMENTARY Beverages and "IF" US feels a need to price EVERY item "A LA CARTE" so be it. Nothing is FREE in life and if it is, it probably isn't worth the trouble. Explaining this to the West Palm Beach crowd should be interesting........"Sophie, do really want an Orange Juice, Coffe and a Water? That will be $5............CASH ONLY. And BTW, Breakfast WILL NOT BE SERVED". Times are a changing and people need to MAKE THE ADJUSTMENTS. IT IS WHAT IT IS.

Whats the beef with PBI flights seriously ;) I don't understand why the "snobby elitist jacks" fly US Airways not Continental...oh is it because of their atypical Jewish beancounting behavior?

Couldnt have said it better myself! We should have been doing this for years. The only reason people took a free drink was just because it was FREE! If you could see the stuff that we would throw away.

In the last seven days of working, I have not seen one angry customer.
