And the RASM on those 5 transcons was.....?

Jim

I think the point is that people are not booking away because they have to shell over $2 for a coke. Has nothing to do with RASM; we all already know that transcons are losing money....

Back to aredee's question: Where are all the reports of screaming matches, abusive pax, and SWAT teams breaking up fights over the charges, as many said?

If this takes off....we might find ourselves needing an extra f/a to help with the service demands.

This could very well trigger contract issues concerning ADD/SUPP f/a's. As for me...I'll take the understaffing pay.

$10.50 an hour extra per flight segment smells good to me.

No, I have said in previous posts that ALL DM members should be exempt from this program simply by showing their cards to us. Heck, I think FA's should take the preferred list with them on the bev cart! (Many do....) I don't take issue with the fact that US has damaged their reputation with the US 1/2/3's. I get that, LOUD AND CLEAR, as do most of the employees....

That said, I was simply wondering where all the "horror stories" were from the nay-sayers that said Tempe did not plan this one out, and that it would be anarchy at best!... STILL WAITING...

As far as upheaval, I think the we are all collectively pretty disgusted with the way management views its employees, and the fact that they could not care much about securing a contract for the FA's that let's us afford to live. (Pilots as well, but that's not my area...) I choose to keep the morale issue separate from the creative revenue generating issue. As much as you hate to hear it, a la carte is a necessity, and this one was pulled off without much of a hitch.
I also worked the first 4 days of this launch. It wasn't pretty nor fun. I didn't enjoy the eyerolls, or the smart remarks. People were put out by it, but what choice do they have? Since you seem to enjoy this so much, what are you going to think when the company wants to offset our pay with commissions from onboard sales? Don't think for a second they won't try it. The company has compared us to Spirit and Alliegent. Both of those carriers flight attendant wages are offset by the commission of the onboard sales. Skybus operated the same way. Go ahead and be happy and excited about the onboard sales, learn how to be good at it your salary may ultimately depend on it.

Who cares if they  ?? They  their eyes when we played one movie . They  their eyes when we sell BOB. They  when you call them out on too many bags. They  on limited bev. Passengers love to  !! Guess what??!........

Word from the Sea Shell is that since FA pay will be partly commission based, there will *not* be an extra day of training during recurrent to concentrate on sales skills.

New FA sales contest; first prize a Cadillac, second prize a set of steak knives, third prize you’re fired!

That's too bad because I can really use the extra $60.00 for another 17 hour training day. I look forward to it yearly!

I suggest renting some movies like Wall Street, Boiler Room, and Glengarry Glen Ross to brush up on those sales skillz.

ABC = Always Be Closing! And no free coffee to FAs that don’t close sales, coffee is for closers!

Maybe you should check out the Spirit contract before you make such statements.

Just don't give me the Patel phone number.

Since you seem to enjoy this so much, what are you going to think when the company wants to offset our pay with commissions from onboard sales? Don't think for a second they won't try it.

Cool....does this mean as a ramp rat I can look forward to some of those baggage fees showing up in my paycheck soon!??

We sold almost $125.00 on beverage sales today and possibly more if we had the credit card machines. Alegiant and Spirit already sells beverages and they seem to be doing fine.

If this is going to save our jobs, I don't mind it and it was sooo easy. I think once the other airlines start seeing that we are making a profit, they are going to follow us.
I sold 375.00 from PHX to DCA on a 320.......amazing!!

The real problem is; the airline lost customers like me who would have been charged $1,000.00 for a walk up one way fare. So explain how US is further ahead in this policy. To me they lost money. $1,000.00 - 320.00 = $680.00 Break even fare of $0.15 X 2000 miles + $300.00 so they lost $380.00 in revenue by selling my seat to a lower yield customer. If it was sold to a loss leader customer the loss would have been greater

Of course you are assumnig that Singleflyer is the only one who would have purchased the $1000 ticket. Maybe there was someone else who did?
I just checked in a guy tonight that had a full F $1250 ticket one way TPA-SFO. They are out there.
