New ID badges

In a seniority driven business such as ours, why the big disguise of ID numbers? Random numbers so neither side can tell where you came from? Why not do it the way it is done now? By seniority? Do they think we will never talk to our crewmembers and find out where we came from? Another stupid idea for corporate....
Hula, they are NOT done by Senority NOW!

New Hires at USAirways-East have been getting numbers in the Mid 30000's for a while. I am in the Sixty Thousands (Piedmont) and have much more senority then new hires. So ID number ARE NOT in Senority Order Now.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't there a Group of "recycled" Seniority #'s given out at some point to new hires at US East? I'm not sure exactly what Group of #'s those were...but I'm pretty sure there were quite a few "recycled" #'s that were re-assigned, so this would mean that most, but not all, ID Numbers are in correct Seniority Order anyway.

Woops, looks like Hope 777 beat me to the punch with the same thought. ;)

It's tough keeping up the stigma attached to "the crazy 8's" every now and again!

And with the return of the Involuntary Furloughees around the corner...make way for some more Nutty 9'S!!!

B)

Well, it's pretty obvious we need new employee numbers anyway. East uses 6-digit numbers, west uses a letter followed by 4 or 5 numbers. Since numbers have to be issued anyway, why not make it random?

Why the need to issue numbers by seniority? Not EVERYONE in the airline business goes by seniority, after all. And even so, who cares???

So, I have been here for 21 years. Who cares! I like the idea of everyone getting a new number. It helps us transition from the east/west thing.

We all will be working together and I like that you never know who you will be working with. Treat everyone the same even if they are brand new.

I think this is a GREAT thing!

I'm glad we're getting new employee numbers, I just hope I get a lucky number like triple 777 or something like that.

So do ya think your 5,10,25,or 50 yr. pin from your former employer next to your badge will give away your "secret identity"? Why not wait until all the seniority lists are integrated and just run the employee numbers top to bottom? This phantom "random number" is going to have to find it's way into every nook and cranny of your dealings with the company and sure enough, the ball will get dropped somewhere.

Seems like a kindergarten approach to ensuring no hurt feelings.

Numbers starting with 8 were reissued to new hires at one point.

Except for the most senior, you will not be able to tell who was AW or US, which I think is the idea behind this. As well as the need to have both sides using the same number format.

New IDs

Wonder if they will be in color or black and white, and if there will be new pictures taken?

Why are the first names on the HP and new US ones twice? CLARK Clark Kent?

I don't care if they're lavender on a lime green background as long as they don't screw up my paycheck and it doesn't hit direct deposit on time

I think the B&W might have something to do with the badges being SIDA access from the TSA now for flight crews.

The East flight crew ID's also have "CREW" written on them in bold letters. I believe this has to do with access, as well.

When the last batch of East ID's were issued, the CREW designation was left off the flight crew ID's, requiring that all flight crew ID's had to be re-issued, at great expense.

To the management folks monitoring this forum, let's not make that expensive mistake again, okay?
