New ID badges

There are also a lot of people who don't go by thier given name. (Ie...where it says CLARK really big it may say JOHN and underneath it'll say Smith, Jonathan.)
Your full "legal" name is required on airline ID's now. No way around it since 9/11

Hooray for the new ID numbers! I think it's a wonderful idea.

I think there has been a bit of subconcious prejudgement about where one got their start.

Now, if only my feeble brain will be able to retain the new number, along with PIN numbers, door code numbers etc, I'll be one happy woman.

Gee, it takes so little to make me happy these days! B)

I hope I get badge number 000001, then everyone will either think I am a O'l Eastie or Doug Parker!

On the current AWA badges they also have a holgraphic AWA logo all over the card, maybe that will be the heritage circle? And there is a small plane under the number and name? So it may still be a bit more colorful than the picture show. A random ID number is a great idea even if I get 035,989. I know on the AWA side I cringe (pre-judging) when I get a CSR with a really high badge number it will be nice to give everyone the benefit of the doubt.

There are many reasons to go with new badges with new numbers for everyone. One of them is you won't be able to look at someone's badge and tell if they were East or West. Should help in a small but important way towards cultural integration. That's why I asked the question about the B&W photos.
In a seniority driven business such as ours, why the big disguise of ID numbers? Random numbers so neither side can tell where you came from? Why not do it the way it is done now? By seniority? Do they think we will never talk to our crewmembers and find out where we came from? Another stupid idea for corporate....

I think the B&W might have something to do with the badges being SIDA access from the TSA now for flight crews.

I think the employee number reissue is a great idea. Keep everyone guessing. However, it's not that much of a challenge---figuring out the senority of an "East" flight attendant. They are more than happy to inform you that they are "72"--without one asking, sporting a sh*t faced grin. My reply? "That WAS a good year---I was born in 72. I guess I'll be working C then??? :D I know! I know! My day is coming.....yet it's nice to sling a little mud back at them-once in awhile--when they behave like that!!! :p Looking forward to a new number. It's tough keeping up the stigma attached to "the crazy 8's" every now and again! I'll be more than happy to lose my number...

Why does absolutely everything have to reference seniority? There is no reason that the badge # needs to indicate seniority. I think it's refreshing to have random ID#'s. Too many people in this merger prejudge based on whether someone is "east" or "west" and how much seniority someone has. Yes people will talk to each other and find out, but at least then people will form opinions after they actually meet someone.

They were B/W before 9/11.
I think that your name on the ID must match your passport (at least for flight crews).
