merger could come in 2 weeks

AA now requesting an extension to April 15th to file POR.
Cheers.
As long as they have exclusivity to file, the current management has leverage. Once that period ends, they lose the vast majority of their leverage and could get swept out without the big bonus.

How many layoffs will this merger be responsible for? I have not heard too much about this issue and there will be layoffs as airline ticket counters for both carriers will merge into one counter and the same pattern will follow for some other work groups.
Staying as independent carriers will not reduce the work force and I hate to think how many will lose their jobs with this merger.
Its been said many times that airways made its profits due to having the lowest wage scales but that cannot continue for ever. Too many variables in this deal to truly project the outcome of a merger.

There WILL be layoffs.

Lots of them....

This is an interesting congragulatory quote from US to the TWU....Digest it if you can and come to a conclusion........And beware the Future !

"– To begin the meeting, US Airways negotiators congratulated the TWU for doing such great work preserving jobs. They would never have allowed an agreement with a 35% outsourcing cap, they said. They fully expected the TWU to simply agree and sign an MOU that they had written, which included no money."

On the station level there is minimal overlap with employees. AA & US don't really have any common large stations, and there are already a ton on both sides that are either Express or outsourced.

it's nice that you can joke and have such merriment with so many peoples lively hood
what a pos you are
I'm on record as against this merger, what truth are you referring to? that you're a piece of ####?

Lesson 1: How $#!T Flows: I take merriment with so many people's lively hood.
How? I just expressed a comment of how long it is taking to make a decision AND the fact that there is too much misinformation and speculation.

People knew what they were getting into when they took the job they have. I can't help if glamor and shine are replaced with garbage and feces. Welcome among the rest of us. Just because you label a jar of SH** Roses, doesn't mean it isn't **IT! Welcome to our cesspool, get over it!

Heard an interesting note from an RP employee in IND Hdqtrs. He said that F9 would be part of the total package with the merger. We all know that RP wants to get rid of F9 , what better way than to take over the bulk of eagle flying along with what they fly for US , and let new AA take the F9 aircraft and simply disband F9 as an independent carrier . After todays news of letting all employees go except those in DEN , this could be the first step , no employees involved in the takeover just assets. I can see RP 's thinking , we will take over eagle and let AA have F9 as a deal sweetener.

think what you are saying here and ask yourself why in the world would US want just eagle?

AA would love that deal because Eagle is credited with taking it in BK...so I read.

F9 is a WN target since the deal soured with RP takeover in BK.

Is US in your merger picture? If so it might work, otherwise DEN is going to be one heck of a battleground.

RP becomes the new eagle ,without the ownership of AA. The combined US express network combined with eagle is fairly sizable and with the right ac quite potentially profitable. Especially when you add in the new ac order from RP for new Emb 170/175's.

I don't see WN getting involved with another merger given where they are with lingering AT one. The AB fleet would also complicate issues for WN with them striving to keep an all 737 fleet.

Has it been two weeks yet? I mean from the first time they told us it was gonna be two weeks...
