Merged Topic- AA Tail Livery New/Old Employees Vote

While the greyhound-esque logo and new typeface are not that exciting, it is the # of stripes what bothers me the most about the new livery.  Maybe it's because I counted the stripes (11) and know that there is 13 on the USA flag.  Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but it bothers me that if you're going to incorporate your country's flag in the corporate logo/livery then get it right.  The current design is almost kind of disrespectful.  IMHO. (And yes, I have the same opinion about the "flag" in the USAirways logo).
This gets into another hobby of mine, vexilology (the study of flags). That is not "the" flag. It is a stylized representation of the USA flag. It is not disrespectful, but just plain lame. Wolf's US Airways flag was lame also.

As much as I hate the new job, if that's the only choice, keep the new one.  The only good thing about the new job is that the place finally sticks out in the sky.  By going back to the old logo, and without applying any other bright surfaces, you are making the new American, invisible in the sky, especially if the sky is gray.

So stick to the fugly colors, at least it's got colors and can be seen from a distance.
What we have with old tail logo and new logo on fuselage is a mishmash. Are the shades of blue and red the same on the logos and the wordmark? Is the old logo only going to be on the tail? How about all the other branding, print, gate signage, website etc, etc, etc? I want the AA, but Parker has opened a can of worms branding wise. How about he brings back the lighting bolt orange livery and we'll call it GREAT?!

Let's put this out for a vote before the vote comes out. How do you create one of them polls on here? Divide it by group to see who votes for what. I am pretty sure that most pre - merger AA folks would want the old one back, due to the hatred that they have for Horton.

The old tail logo needs to come back. We're talking 80 years of marketing that's known WORLDWIDE; whatever airport you're at, in whatever country you're in, the big, bold AA cannot be misunderstood....it's AMERICAN AIRLINES!!! The pianoesque tail will take years upon years to be recognized.
A company Email I read a few days ago made sense in the fact that the fuselsausages in the Airbuses and 787's are composite and obviously will never have the "privilege" of being able to be polished Aluminum. Makes sense, but the AA tail logo being canned is the most idiotic brandname/logo marketing move ever!!!

Only the tail of the aircraft may or may not change. All other branding (gates, website, print) etc will keep the greyhound bus logo.

FutureBrand says they did a great job and the redesign was well received by staff...

"A refreshing and exciting 'symbol' for the future of American Airlines, the new brand is set to build on the heiritage and history American has built over the last 40 years as it moves into the future. The new brand was recieved well by staff and customers alike. In the months after launch, the impact on the world of social media was immediate and dramatic; the airline went from slow and steady growth to explosive growth overnight. The percentage of engaged fans shot up to almost three times the aviation sector average. Most importantly though, is the incredibly positive and emotional response it generated. The fans of American Airlines had something special to celebrate."

The tail seems very unimaginative considering their there airline customer. They got the tail flag treatment too.

Which staff exactly? The dopes on the new 'Jetbook' raving about how "Refreshing" and "Overdue" it was? The cubicle farmers who don't have to see it up close and personal every day?

That spiffy paint is holding up well on the 37 doors isn't it?

Also, please allow me a moment to express my sincerest gratitude to the cubicle farmer that decided removing the sliding carpet system from the 737 and 757 would be a stroke of genius, allowing untold savings in fuel and maintenance expenditures.I hope their memo writing ass is ridden out of Centrepork on a rail

Virtually every 737 that comes into LGA these days requires a call to aircraft maintenance to come out with 2x4's (Yes, %$#@ing lumber!!) to literally pry open the forward door as gravity has slid the load forward, bulging it out into the nettings and causing extensive delays in passengers receiving their baggage.

BOOOO!!! Tommy Boy gets to laugh at us every time he sees that disgusting redneck tail! Give the color blind guy some credit. He rammed this through and painted the largest aircraft first and painted them all at a feverish pace. Thus making it harder and perhaps softening the vomit factor. He wins, the rest of the world loses. Like I said before, we now have a memorial towards bad management flying on a plane near you.

Sorry, but it's no longer management's bad decision you're looking at on the tail.

You had your chance to change it, and now you own the outcome of the voting.

If the stripes on the tail didn't come down to the fuselage it would be as hideous, but I still think this one bellow that someone posted on airliners is a little better still...
