Mechanics will vote for representation

you guys going on comedy central??
al/doug knows a bunch of suckers when they see them.
suddenly they're reeling in the cash??
oh al didn't lie....but he didn't tell you when didhe?
you guys are looking more and more desparate everyday.
goodluck...you need it.
It seems you have a better way of doing things, although I have not seen any constructive suggestions You have to "believe and try". The company "koolaid" thing is a common saying, but it is usually said when there is nothing else to be said. I wish I was "blessed" with the ability to foresee the future or read minds. IAM members and FORMER members seem to have those powers.

Predicting the outcome of any "battle" is only an estimation at best. At times the odds seem overwhelming, but the "battle" will still take place. There may be no winner, but it will be a "battle". This is an unfortunate fact. :)

you know gonzo ,this has been intersting at times.i feel your union crowing about "opening up the contract" is the lowest form of manuevering to get votes.
i don't care what Al and Doug said ,it just isn't an option without the approval of the BK court and the board of creditors,.
as to seeing the future,IAM was prepared and knew in the first BK that it wouldn't succeed.they provided plans and suggestions that had savings in them that would have helped substatially.no response from the company....they had their own vision-hence the reasoning behind the concession stand being closed...as to outsource and job loss....they knew there would be substantial loss in all groups...they limited it to what i was.it could have been the whole nine yards...it came that close.
IBT in the same situ,it would come out the same or worse depending on how adamant they were...look at AMFA now.
in solidarity,
may you and yours, ;)
have a nice holiday.

I must admit also dell that it has been very interesting also. My view on all of this is that the company has the obligation to run the company the way they see fit. Now that being said, there are certain things that the unions are obligated to do also. The membership should be legally represented by the union (basically that is what it has come to). The union should try to get it's members the best possible life style that the type of business will allow and a safe working conditions. There are no guarantees.

I have read the legal documentation for the BK and other documents, and no where did I see anything that said the conditions of emerging from BK or merging with AWA was predicated on the present IAM aggreement staying in effect after emerging from the BK or merging with AWA. I can only assume that the information that you speak of is "in your opinion". :)

US Airways Group said its acquisition by America West — the cornerstone of its bankruptcy exit —
one those bricks says IAM contract gonzo...you haven't found it in all those thousands of pages....keep looking.

I read what the iam plans on doing with my 401k
http://www.iamdl142.org/us11_15_05-01.htm

And have had my weekend bothered with the ibt phone call to my house.

I have made up my mind if a election were to take place.
Both have Guaranteed that i will not vote at all, if the only choice i have is between the iam-ibt.

good choice!
if more are liked minded as you,as i have indicated before...you will be on your way to being de-certified and without a union or contract.
good choice.

Yes you have indicated before dell.
And i agree with you, if past election results are any indication any runoff will probably result in decertification.
The iam has tried to get us into the iam pension before, that item was removed after our no vote. The money now going toward retirement is just fine where it is.

As far as being called at home, it gets treated as any unwanted solicitaion.
Hell even lcc knows not to call me at home for any reason.
Its just 8 hrs a day 40 hrs a week.
No more.

The IAM is not touching your 401K, they are trying to get the company into the IAMNPP, do you realize that Fleet Service has a higher benefit now being part of the IAMNPP then the Mechanic and Related.

And if you are non-union you can kiss your 401k match goodbye.

This is what they said
"This would entail using contributions that US Airways and America West are making to their respective 401K plans, and would convert those plans into a defined benefit pension plan"

That is the 2% match, do you realize if they did that you would be getting a multiplier of around $78.

Do you realize Fleet did that and they have a much higher benefit then you now?

Go ask any fleet service or go to the IAMNPP's web page and see what they have to offer.

At a meeting two weeks ago with all the General Chairman, the District President, all the Grievance Committee Chairman and myself it was explained to us.

Go ask your GC for more information and they will be happy to provide it to you.

IAMNPP

Show me where it says they take my 19.00 match and give me 78.00.
Dont spew hersay, prove it.
Let them put it in writing, Guarantee it.
When can i collect 78.00? 78.00 a what year, month, week? Can i still work in my current field and collect? Is there a Vesting?
Did they poll the membership to see if the membership desired this change?

What makes you think the 401k match is goodbye? .50 on a dallor up to 6% is the normal for non union workers now.

If the iam dressed someone in a white apron and hat, and had him serve you s.o.s, and they told you it was prime rib. You would come on this board and tell everyone how a union chef cooked you up the best prime rib you ever had.
Your loyalty is almost comendable.
