They have no choice to meet. The company will be filing an 1113© motion before 2/15/05.

By the way, the IAM and the Company have met numerous times throughout the year. Not like it is something new. Since you are not an IAM member I would not expect you to know what is going on within MY union.

And dont be jealous, I hold a district position, sorry if you dont like it.

Today ALPA communications committee chairman Jack Stephen said "Be aware that there are still inaccurate statements circulating through the pilot group that suggest that ALPA would fare better in an 1113© hearing because the judge would be able to make modifications to the Company’s 1113© motion. To be clear, in the 1113(e) process, the judge did have the power to make modifications to the Company’s emergency interim proposal. But, unlike the 1113(e) process, the law does not provide the judge with the authority to make any modifications in the 1113© process involving long-term, permanent relief."

USA320Pilot comments: I'm sure even Ms. Levine understands this point and I believe the IAM options are simple: fully participate in the new business plan or have virtually all functions outsourced.

Could that be why the IAM wrote today "US Airways has requested a meeting with the IAM to discuss its plans for the carrier’s future and its potential impact on IAM members?"

Me thinks so...remember when US Airways chairman David Bronner said the restructuring would go forward "with or without employees"? The judge has done "imposition" once and will likely do it again, if necessary. Do I like this? No, I do not, but the same could occur to any labor group except the TWU units for failure to participate in the new business plan.

You do not know me nor what I do with the District, and I work hand and hand with the International.

You can all post whatever you want, don't be jealous.

Matter of fact I am with the International all week.

I am in the loop and you are not.

Those that know me, know what I do.

Spindoc replies:

Lighten up Francis.

It's really kind of pointless for you to
continue with your tirades. Everyone
except you has reached the acceptance
phase of this funeral and you will too,
very soon.

Face it. The IAM has no power at this
point and will soon become completely
irrelevant. Nothing personal against
you, it's just the way it is. Just because
you are a union member doesn't mean
you can control what happens.

I will hate to see our fine mechanics
being replaced by outsourcing and
younger, hungrier employees, but
heck, you will have no one to blame
but yourselves because you did not
work to make a deal when the offer
was on the table.

Cheerio 700.

why would the airline wait until feb to file the 1113 motion why not do it say around dec22 which would be 60 days since the paycuts?

First of all there was never a deal on the table.

And maybe the IAM would have worked for the company if they thieves did not steal the airbus work.

You cannot trust Jerry Glass and company.

By the way, thanks to Jerry for the $15 million they will have to pay the IAM Mechanic and Related.

Robbed:

The company can file the S.1113© motion before February 15, which could happen.

Ok 700UW I'll take you at your word....so being you are "in the loop"...what is going to happen as far as number of IAM furloughs, a breakdown, mechanics, utility, stores....will the pensions be left along, will they seek to terminate the early retirement so many are taking advantage of right now, will heavy maintenance be in one location, will the IAM shut the place down if they push too hard....OK 700UW not being funny and would like to know as many of the questions as you can honestly answer, so would others of course...

you all should educate yourself by going to google and indoctrinating yourselves into the how's and why's of the 1113 process....you will find many things that will open your mind.

dude...we are forced into negotiations as the law requires under 1113....after all the affected unions who have been sanctioned with the 21% cut attempt to come to some type of " mutually agreeable contract modifications" there will be no signs of what U has in the making as to what you have asked....
do you think they would,in BK allow massive layoffs and the resulting severance payouts in BK.....i think not....
there will be no showing of the plan until certain "problem areas " of each labor groups have been resolved either "mutually" through 1113e or forcefully in 1113c.

Thanks for the laugh

First it was satire to see if 700is the union fruit “loop†he portrays.

Second I didn’t even address severance.

Third the comment about going to google shows just how much help or “helpless†the union actually is, go to google and don’t dare go to a union meeting to find out anything, I love it.

The only thing left that matters are thoes points, pensions and how many people will get it “if†there is anything left, the severance which I didn’t even address is considered history, an “understood†because the union doesn’t have to show us anything that company didn’t already, they do what they want and the union tells you to “wait†and see what happens. So a lot of poor souls are waiting and will be confronted with the job search crunch. That is your Union helping hand. The leaders stick out their chest while the membership gets tossed….as NFS says…Good Day and in this case Good Riddance as well.

The IAM has not been given any proposals from the company yet.

But I suspect it will the very ugly at the start.

Nearly every airline in the industry now outsources all or almost all of their heavy maintenance. The IAM even negotiated the closing of IND and OAK maintenance at UAL, so they can't run away.

They can elect to keep running away from reality. By refusing to negotiate interim relief, it cost their mechanics dearly. No one desires to cut mechanics pay by 21% and if they had come to the table, the mechanic cut would have been lower and utility would have been higher.

This industry is in a complete and total meltdown-

AA-announcing they will layoff more employees.
DL-on the verge of BK
CO-says they are going to have to ask for concessions
UA-will file for 1113 c relief and pension plan termination
NW-get pilot concessions and will need more
AW-will lose $ the rest of the year.

Are the management teams at all these airlines incompetent?

When will employees face the terrible reality of the industry?

The naysayers need to look around at the other carriers and understand why these concessions are essential for our survival.

Management and our front line employees are all in the same boat. We must work together for a prosperous future. We can win this battle with the LCCs if we work together as a team. The majority of our fine employees are willing to do whatever is needed to protect their jobs and ensure a bright future for this company.

ALPA will lead the way with a ratification vote, which I expect to be in the 50-60 percent range.

UGLY? What you gonna do when they get read of the majority of utility? Thats coming you know?

What are you gonna do when they put vending machines in the galley?

And they all ready have gotten rid of 2,000 utility over the past three years, there are only 1,000 left.

And don't worry about my personal life, I have a Plan B when US fails.
