M and R negotiations

From what I see in the airline industry your scabs are the art of outsourcing, which is pretty much where the rest of us are heading.

Alaska. A d Northwest they did a great job there.

Do you recall the extent of the concessions NW was seeking from AMFA? They would have lost more than 50% of their workforce with substantial pay, benefit and scope concessions from the remaining workers. The IAM was happy to help NWA bust AMFA and assume their scope "ancillary duties" as you like to cover it up with. How great did the IAM do at AS? SEA ramp is handled by Menzies Aviation, many other AS stations are handled by non-union DL although some have AA workers, but not AS IAM members.
The IAM has done plenty to set the industry back, conditioning the TWA workers to roll over and accept concessions (like Bob said about Kansas City base).

You along with the IAM international seem to really hate AMFA. Probably because they provide accountability, transparency and near industry leading agreements for their members.

If they had put it to a vote, it would have passed by 57%. Just like it has every other time here at "Yes Vote Airways".

Fighting Machinists. HA HA.

Back on subject. It's been 2 yrs. The kicker is that US was at AA approving a 4.3% raise while they were supposed to be at the table negotiating our contract. Now they come back with this sub-par crap. WTF!!!

Your lovely IAM gave a directive to cross the AMFA picket line during the NWA strike. In other words the IAM is a SCAB UNION!

Time to get rid of the IAM.

AMFA is the only union for the professionally skilled M&R workers at USAir.

Get a drive going. We are almost there. May will be here sooner than you know. I doubt USAir will negotiate seriously since the merger has been announced. Why negotiate a contract when the company has to negotiate a single agreement after the Single Carrier Status is official? This SCS won't happen anytime soon. So expect nothing from the company in terms of a contract.

I agree with 1AA. Nothing will happen Soon. The company don't give a crap about US Mechanics. They just want to get the merger done as quick as possible to start saving money. It's up to AA Mechanics to vote AMFA and US supporting them. AA Mechanics control our future when we integrate like it or not there's double of them then there is US. I support there whatever they decide. I just want the TWU out and please say no to Teamsters. We had them at America West and they were horrible. Just Ask any Cactus Mechanic.

We need to work together now since the merger has been announced.
It is no longer you and me or us and them. It is WE as ONE from now on.
We can settle the seniority and other issues if we have the right union in place for the M&R. Turn away the Teamsters and get rid of the IAM. We are in the process of getting rid of the TWU and are telling the Teamsters to pound sand. It is working here at AA. The Teamsters stabbed the TWU in the back and do not have 50% of cards signed. They won't get it either because we will not allow them. The TWU is in a defensive mode and do not know what to do. The Teamsters betrayed Jim Little and a AMFA filing is coming soon.

I also agree with you, my brother on the western side.

Yep, the IAM put up a real fight when they rolled over and allowed Hawaiian to add ready reserve to the CBA.

IAM abandoned their members at Caterpillar and Lockheed Martin after a pain extended strike to give the company exactly what they wanted.

The IAM was once a powerful and important union, their membership has plummeted and is being lead by leaders "out of step" with the membership only concerned about climbing the international ranks and collecting their union salary & benefits.

I tend to also agree with the posters that are saying that US don't really care to get you guys a new contract, knowing they will have to go right back into nego's to get SLI for combined company. 1AA is correct, there will be a filing at AA for new union representation, by 2nd half of May 2013. The AA'ers are soon getting rid of the TWU, if you guys at US do anything, I would recomend you guys start collecting AMFA cards, and get ready to rid yourselves of the IAM. They AA'ers are well over the 50% mark and will continue to gather even more cards until they file in May just to make sure. With the added padding of cards over required amount, and all the documents to verify/deny eligibility requirements, they are more than prepared this time around. Good luck to you all...

I agree that we are all one group now and there is no need to fight each other. It truly us against the management. We need to stand strong if we want the contract that we deserve. I hope you guys can get AMFA voted in. I think they are the best union for our group and class. I'm not sure starting an AMFA card drive here @ US is necessary this late in the game like others have said. If you guys get them in then by the sheer numbers they should prevail. I would think most US techs would vote for AMFA over the TWU if it even comes to a vote. The IAM is definitely OUT.

Maybe we should just vote yes on the 3% and take the 2% in 18mos. and be happy. And then we can just roll over on the next contract too. We seem to be full of excuses of why we can't get a deserving contract. Nobody wants to do what needs to be done to get the company's attention anymore. We are so beat down by years of disappointments. We are like beat down dogs.

These are negotiating tactics. That's why it's called NEGOTIATIONS. The IAM will meet next week and ask for the 3% plus 12%. The company will come back and say 3% plus 5%. The IAM will take credit for doing a great job and sell it to us bragging getting an extra 3% out of them just the same way they sold us the last bs contract. This is all BS. IAM is a company union. Go AMFA.
