bravo! I couln't have said it better. the strong will survive, not hide behind the union.usair_begins_with_u said:You are wrong.. plenty of non union people earn great wages and benefits.. You dont have to be in a union to be paid fairly.. most of the people in our country are NOT in a union. You do need to be in a union to get away with demanding more than your worth.. it's a gang mentality.. thats why you call yourselves brothers and sisters, much like gang members do... Unionists hide behind seniorty, while others grow by striving to be better, and working harder than others... Unions - are an old school outdated socialistic approach that once had meaning back in the early 1900's before there were laws which protected workers.
Two words for you: *SUPPLY & DEMAND*
Any efforts to thwart supply and demand will certainly fail.. That's precisely why things like price ceilings and price floors never work. Thats why minimum wages create job shortages..
If Labor demands a wage outsite of what is profitable for an airline, it will fail. The last time I looked, UAir is not in black ink, and has only had gains in 2 of the last 16 years.. CASM.. it's too high..
If there are no concessions, I guess you can all have a bang up time high fiving eachother in the unemployment line..
Pity.
Kitty, SWEATSHOP wages? your pay and benefits are above the norm.ktflyhome said:Well, just tell me this!!! If we had nothing BUT mangement in this country today and NO labor, just tell me where the HELL would we all Be????? Managment would not have their cozy little (big homes), nice fancy cars and gourmet dining.
Sounds to me that some on here are advocating that the Labor of USAirways should feel grateful at having a job, but should be working for SWEATSHOP wages.
Here is a better one....hammerhead said:usair_begins_with_u
great statement. finally someone that doesn't believe in free lunches.
you thought correct.BoeingBoy said:"Mainline will die. from old age of course. "
And here I was thinking you thought it was us evil, greedy employees making success impossible for the supremely competent management.

You just sound to gleeful to me. I debate these folks and I respect them and their opinions no matter how misguided we think the other is.
I find your tone and demeanor insulting to every person who punches a time clock or fills out a time sheet.
Why is it that EVRY GD time their is a "Contract Crisis" we get morons coming out of the woodwork, insulting and demeaning people on here. I post a lot and I learn alot. Bit I've no time personally for this kind of behavior.
We have people sent to the cornfield for calling people Arse holes and less, yess that blantant insult from the Jerry Glass wannabee' goes unchecked, go figure
Just jumping in on your post...please remember folks. LOA 91 was presented to the pilot group as a NO LOSE proposal. It was sold to the pilot group as a giveback to the company that had no value (nothing in return), and that it MIGHT help the company survive. I disagree with both those points...but what I really want to say is this.....LOA 91 was NOT part of the pilots givebacks in the new restructering of the company. That giveback is yet to be asked for by the company, and LOA 91 was given FREE of charge with no value attached. The IAM could care less about it, since ALPA has made it real clear the real givebacks are coming later. Best.
