JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

The seniority we briefed on was just pertaining to the fleet group. I do know the mechanics were still working on seniority issues all week last week in NYC. I know progress was made, but don’t know which ways they went on those issues. And also the .30 cent a hour raise was only Fleet. And yes it was definitely a smack in the face.
Thx for the answer CB. I was very curious about that. So there are 2 different nego's sessions from fleet and mechanics? Or there are 2 different groups nego within the same contract? I am a little confused at why the differences are so prevident. Where do we go from here?

We? I thought you worked for Southwest Airlines?

IAM Mechanics have a Contract. TWU Mechanics have a Contract. So each group have 6 people who know and understand their contracts who needed to reconcile differences, write language, come to terms, present it to the Company and then attempt to reach agreement.

IAM Ramp Agents (Fleet) have a Contract. TWU Fleet Agents have a Contract. So each group have/had 6 people who know and understand their contracts who needed to reconcile differences, write language, come to terms, present it to the Company and then attempt to reach agreement.

This has been explained many many times now here on Forums. Mechanics are not negotiating for Fleet and Fleet is not negotiating for Mechanics. The 2 groups though ABSOLUTELY support each other 100%.

I’m not sure why anyone should have difficulty figuring this out?

Fine, you dont have to answer me. But your members will want to know why you didnt fight like you should have over pt instead of taking someones word. The intent of that back to back was to create full time. Listen to me on this because you simply dont know. You could b a hero and win this so it prolly isnt politically prudent of me to coach you on it. Not saying im smarter but you werent there. And of course you know things that i dont as well.
That 18 hours is even grievable, not just the 2 pt shifts. 2 FT = 17 hours. Id arbitrate that as well. You are getting hung up on 'single" but that wasnt the intent. If you take that literal (and you shouldnt because it was never intended to take literally) then we never would have won any grievances. 2 back to back 5.5 work hours would have never been won, but it was and never had to go to step 3 back in the day. Also, full time can have 10 hr shifts. So harbinson and miklavic just agreed 1 hour in between any back to back. Im always fighting for more, maybe to a fault, so i was pissed. Thats how i got 1.5 hours in ord. Miklavic and harbinson didnt want to deal with me.

You need to revisit. Someone is holding up arbitrating it.

CB is right about the language dealing with PT Article 26, pg.115, IAM 2014 CBA not changing since IBT/ Miklavic CBA's . However , TN is right about the current interpretation by AAL . We again are fighting the SFO Managers's about the FS CBA language and the spirit of the law, past practice, and prior FS shift bids in using PT lines to cover FT lines of work . It has become very clear to me a 40 year Veteran that DB/AAL wants to use more PT/ FS Ass. Member/ Workers to reduce FS labor costs, while DP/AAL is making $$$. We need to address this issue now for ALL ! Are there System Grievance's on this issue currently being Mediated or Arbitrated ???
CHEERS !

Read the contract again Sir. The Longevity pay at IAM UAL Ramp has been discontinued. They don’t get longevity pay any longer.
WeAAsles, I do stand corrected as to the longevity pay. It is discontinued on 11/15/16, so we will be the highest paid again. Not sure about what Delta's fleet service are currently paid.

I plan on winning in april dor international prez. I already picked 10 charities in charleston sc to donate to prior to the spocial convention in june.
Brother that is not going to happen . It's rigged remember . CHEERS !

I would like to know that as both unions (TWU & IAM) are negotiating together for a unified "Single Contract" for fleet Service and Mechanics, and this contract's outcome will affect both unions members, then why has the IAM not chosen to support the TWU with their picketing and displeasure with AA. In all of the picketing and organized displeasures you can not find the IAM supporting the TWU by having membership march with the TWU side by side. This would show that the not only does the IAM support the TWU in their displeasure,, but also show a sign of unity among both unions. The Pilots,Flight Attendants, and Customer Service agents at LAA all support the TWU, but not the IAM. What am I missing here?

Delta is earning $30.14 per hour TOS. They don’t have longevity either but they do have shift differential in the .50 area. Same as UAL.

We currently are the highest paid in the industry at $30.81.

Cb has refused to arbitrate it. Harbison's one hour rule held up until delaney/fairbanks. Harbinson wasnt a pushover so he reinterpreted the language to fairbanks (could have been crowell) and fairbanks has agreed. He coached CB to fixate on the word "single". Obviously no single full timer could fill anything more than 8.5 hours. Thankfully, thats a fake interpretation. But CB bit hard on it and isnt listening. CB is pretty much our only chance to fix that but he hasnt shown any willingness to stand up to fairbanks.

Otherwise, i dont think a supervised election is rigged. When we have lost in the past it was due to not having the inherent infrastructure as incumbants. That hasnt changed but we still have to force democracy to keep things accountable....and sometimes incumbants do lose. Who knows, but if my team wins, we wont have to worry about back to back because we will initiate arbitration processes immediately.

Tim will your team be a group of highly qualified and competent individuals or will it be the usual assortment of oddballs, flakes and stoners you’ve ran with in the past?

We have had more qualified members on the ballot than those in office now. The team isn't fully put together now but we have 37 spots and we have time to make sure the best candidates are chosen at each location. The district has a lot of flakes right now, but more importantly, management shills like Fairbanks. He is just awful and may be the main reason why things have deteriorated on our part time issues. CB doesn't stand up to him but he should.

At any rate, CB doesn't have to answer me. He should because he represents me, and I'm paying his salary. But he refuses to answer my questions, i.e., exactly how is he fighting if he supports Parker's opinion that a union shouldn't be picketing? Members wanna know.

And why does he stand down on the back to back language and support the back to back to back language? Members wanna know. He hasn't fought this. I know he said he did, but stomping feet and having his finger up his butt listening to Fairbanks or some other manager isn't fighting. If I have to, I'll give CB a few grand to arbitrate it. I'm sure if CB arbitrates it, and actually does his research and bring in testimony, it would be won. But, like any arbitration, it requires research.

Will you include Retired or Dead candidates for your team?

Weez, cb is close to useless since he was on the same eboard that approved the cinderella july 2024 letter at united which lifts the scope commitments for ALL united jobs. In 2024, united can contract out all iam jobs with uge.
