JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

Weez,

I do not dismiss the raises we got last october. But your "what if" scenario is just goofy. A concession is a concession no matter what it looks like. Be it a loss in excellent insurance coverage, or a loss of vacations, or a loss of holidays, or a loss of OT language. It would be a concession. So if we are willing to give up the better LUS insurance when this company is making BILLIONS, what are we going to be giving up "if" the company is only making millions, breaking even or losing money? Because you know the company is going to throw it back in our faces that we gave up the better healthcare when it wasn't necessary. I mean, seriously, why are the AA people not screaming for our insurance?

PJ I'm sorry but no it's not. It's a shuffling of the deck financially. If your Medical went up let's say $200 per month on average but you received raises equaling $500 per month, you still have a net gain of $300 per month or $3600 per year. Financially you're making no concession.

Besides I'd like to think by now the issue has been decided? I'm not comfortable if it wasn't with supporting our TWU PTers paying double (even if they were paying less than currently) to subsidize those Medical rates you enjoy. We already enjoy great wages and benefits somewhat off the backs of subcontractors doing some of our old work. I don't want it staring me more in the face than it does now.

Weez sorry but you got those things too,so it,s ok that we lose something to get that? In reality, neither of us should lose anything not with this place turning billions.
As for your comfort with Pters paying more,I don,t think they should
either but then I think they should be called for ot by classification unlike they are there

Maybe in the new agreement they will be rat? The PT being called for more OT into the mix.

And I'm not comparing that we all got raises. Trust me to be completely honest my Bank account has never looked better. And also no I don't want you guys to lose that cost savings but I would not want to subsidize it somewhere else. I've always firmly believed you've subsidized your own great medical rates in other areas of your contract.

In a perfect World (We don't live in one) give me as much of my compensation package placed into wages and I'll allocate those funds where I feel works best for me. I'll contribute to my own retirement accounts and buy my own insurance on things.

W, correct me if I'm wrong, but seems to me as though you're saying outsourcing is fine with you as long as it's reflected in our wages and benefits.

" We already enjoy great wages and benefits somewhat off the backs of subcontractors doing some of our old work".

Am I interpreting that comment wrong?

You are.

What I'm saying is "one" of the reasons we're making over $30 per hour plus benefits is because we have (here in MIA as an example) Eulen, Swissport, Skychefs, Envoy, etc doing a lot of our old work.

I don't think we should hide from that reality.

So again I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be screwing our "already working here" PTers by voting to make them pay more than I do for medical. Again the phrase is "I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be with it"

Considering the number of Pt'ers you currently have in Miami and the seeming desire by management to add to the percentages systemwide, making them pay more for the same coverages is wrong in so many different ways. What happens when they try to push for more then 50% PT? Eventually it will get to people who think they are immune. There should be no difference in price regardless of status. The only difference in price should be for different coverages. From someone who was PT for too long the unfortunate reality, especially in smaller stations was that PT was inferior employees, well they aren't. Work rules are what they are, but if I they get the same medical coverage as ft then the cost should be the same IMO

Look at it this way, PTers are getting the same benefit as a FTer and working less hours for it

To ALL ! "Facts are stubborn, but statistics are more pliable." Mark Twain . NO concessions . CHEERS !
Your edict doesn't apply when you are a member of the minority like we are. You'll find that out with the 2019 open enrollment

Ok but you were able to hold out long enough to secure 2018 which has to count for something.
