whoa cowboy what is with all the hostility we are on the same side . I know ramp has females so should it not be brothers and sisters. just saying. so chill out we well get thru this, time will tell .....peace out

you do know that you are the company in part

Listen to the obfuscation, minimizing and rationalization... yes, not just brothers, as there are sister rats too. Yes, part of the Company, but not part of Management. So let's just "chill" and "peace out", right?

And actually, no, I don't think we are part of the same side, "cowboy".

I have doubts this Avi works the ramp. If so maybe he or she is very junior and has not felt long years of pain that others have. PHX sounds awful.

Fact is you have to tolerate management just like they have to tolerate you. At the end of the day Avi is right, we all share the same goal. To provide passengers safe service from point A to point B and turn a profit doing it.

Better to try to find common ground with people you are stuck with than have an adversarial relationship. Not saying have a friendly relationship with them but at least strive for a cool peace.

In that sense I agree with Avi.

I have met few managers who are plotting, scheming, little bastards with a chip on their shoulder. Every one of them managed to get themselves fired (3 over 12 years if your curious).

nobodies going to put their best foot forward first.....its called the dance
I feel this back and forth should be done by now and closer to some meaningful negotiations with an agreement in sight. What were the big boys brought in for then, he said she said for another year?

who knows what the company offered our union doesn't tell us?

avi this was put out on the Maintenance thread. Do you care to confirm, refute or elaborate?

Union Rep comes into shop last night and told us the company proposal was really bad. No signing bonuses, we would get the same insurance as the pilots and flight attendants. No early out money, IAM pension they want to get rid of! I guess it is going to be a long time before we get a contract.

And you guys were worried you would be forced into the pension and this guy is saying the company wants to get rid of it hmmmm. Somebody got something wrong now that I think of it I probably shouldn't have replied perhaps I'll delete later.

I was never the one worried about being forced Al.

Never was I. As a matter of fact, I stated my opinion (it would not happen) on numerous occasions.

So "if" the information is correct then it's somewhat hilarious in a way watching all the people freak on here for so long.

Oops.

I think the information on the pension is 100% wrong again the company has money to give I don't think they care if it goes towards a 401 or a pension. Let me be clear a pension like the IAMPF not a pension they would be obligated to fund .

what did I say about rumors....was the info. in writing from the NC or someone's opinions. think about it even the NC said if it's not from us then it is rumors....think people before you react.

Brothers and Sisters,

The Executive Negotiating Committee met with American Airlines the week of July 17th, in Washington D.C. On the afternoon of July 19th, American Airlines presented their initial proposal covering the remaining articles to your Executive Committee. Upon initial review, the company’s proposal is inadequate and falls far short in providing the contract you deserve. After a year and a half of negotiations with the Company, we are extremely disappointed.
that's in writing from the twu/iam web site.
