JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

Well its not like they were going anywhere. IAM pretty much sat on their hands for over a year before they filed to be released, they filed, then what? Nothing. No picketing, not even at the NMB to let it be known they are serious. AMFA filed during similar conditions at NWA, they ended up with the biggest increases ever seen and all mechanics benefitted from that. Yes the recession, 9-11 and BK gave NWA and the other unions the opportunity to make an example of them by setting out to bust AMFA, no matter the cost, before they spread through the rest of the industry, but the fact is that every mechanic in the industry benefitted by what happened at NWA from 1999 through 2001 and to this day we are still better off. Our wages today are higher in absolute dollars (not when adjusted for inflation) than they were prior to 2001 but for many of our coworkers that is not the case such as Fleet service and Stores.

So while I would fault the IBT for other things filing for an election at US when the IAM continues to sit on their hands in negotiations isnt one of them. The IAM claims this will extend negotiations, well, after seeing the crumbs they were asking for, and the fact they were not making progress even with that, taking a little longer to get where you want to be may be a better option than throwing the IAM even more time to get you where you dont really want to be.Why should they be willing to settle for what the UAL guys , who are in negotiations, are getting now? They need a union that will at least try and raise the bar, not just ride the coat tails of United mechanics.

Sadly I still think the filing at US was really more about getting cards at AA. Maybe the IBT should be a little more aggressive at UAL, then they would not have to rely on deception in order to get more mechanics to want to become Teamsters. The thing about deception is eventually the truth comes out, the guys who told the lies will be long gone, telling lies to their next assignment, but we will have to live with the results.

So, while having Rival Unions court members from other unions may not be in the best interests of people who have positions in the Unions that are being raided ,despite what these leaders say, its good for Union members and the labor movement as a whole. It brings accountablity to the unaccountable, but care must be taken if a choice to move is made that you dont get lured into a relationship based on lies, lies from different people are still lies.

No picketing huh Bob?

Guess you didnt see this now have you?

Or this?

And it happened in PHL, CLT and PHX that I know of.

And no union files for a release after just one year, they werent even in mediation in the first year.

The IAM filed for a release and is still waiting for the NMB to respond one way or another.

The IAM has sat on their hands Bob.

Guess that thr picket line in high visability charlotte didn't make national headlines. Whats wrong with setting up pickets in New York or DCA where somebody might actuslly see them? Somebody might see them?

Josh

There was no informational picketing in DCA or PHL......Members were asked to show up Wed, when they did they were told the picketing was canceled?? Permits pulled? Now hearing the truth is the IAM messed up on the filing for permits in those two cities???? Cannot even seem to get an informational picket right!!!!

WeAAsles, you know I wish the IAM had joined in, but a special key person from the TWU informed me today that the TWU does not support our health care and is solely focused on Double time and holidays. Essentially, it's thinking bigtime small. Wanting LUS to take 2 steps back instead of both unions continuing the advance using the superior LUS agreement (That the TWU fought for in solidarity) to build upon into a leading industry contract BY FAR.

When I asked, why would the TWU be picketing if this was true? The answer was that Samuelson will be in a dogfight and that these pickets have nothing to do with American negotiations and everything to do with politics and the TWU International elections. I was shocked because the key person is someone that ALL TWU peeps know. He is going to give me more concrete information and documents as we move forward.

Do I believe him? Well, I don't know him. But he seemed sincere.

I do know, as of 2 days ago, the TWU leadership 100% didn't support our health care. I know that 100% fact.

See you guys in section 6 talks if you are letting your politics get in the way of our contract. I've told you WeAAsles that I don't mind you but I'll not let your union's politics screw over all TWU and IAM fleet peeps. You support LUS health care, Catering, etc., or game over and we recycle this thing into section 6 talks. It's your call.

Lmao. Far out bro. Really far out. Roasted nuts.

No. I wish it was far out. Someone from TWU has been leaking information to me and some other LUS peeps about this whole thing being a fake for Samuelson and that the TWU negotiations are supporting management regarding LUS health care. A post actually said the TWU basically is just focused on Double time and Holidays. If this is truly just about TWU elections then dial me out. I supported your picket but if all of us, including the TWU members, were being used for election purposes then your union has stooped to a new level.

And I know that not one LUS AGC will go against what I'm going to tell you now, i.e., that TWU negotiators are not fully supporting LUS health care.

You guys don't know the IAM like you think. If you start pissing off egos they bring the hammer down and I can assure you that this is no joke and that they would be willing to initiate section 6 and drag this thing out for 3-5 years prior to taking 2 steps backwards. Believe me. And I know management reads this board as well. Management can stick up rubber hose up its nose because there is no reason for our LUS health care and catering to be used as trade bait for LAA double time and holidays. Whaaaa

I know the IAM very well from my days at United. They are the reason you never got a pay raise at Usair until American Airlines money bailed them out.

I know for a fact that TWU BOS President Tim Hughes went upstairs and joined his IAM Brothers in their quest to gain their Standalone contract on this date.

"IAM members were joined by Transport Workers Union (TWU) members who perform similar jobs at pre-merger American Airlines. Together they informed passengers about the dire and deteriorating state of labor relations at the airline.

“Doug Parker wants the flying public, shareholders, Wall Street and anyone else who will listen to believe that all is going well with the merger of US Airways and American Airlines. That is simply untrue,” said IAM District 141 President Rich Delaney.”

“The TWU and IAM are partners,” said TWU President Harry Lombardo. “We will not sit idly by as management tries to drive a wedge between workers.”

what hammer you mean where sito did not respect the first vote of the Boeing vote and had a revote and took there pensions and it was not a bk vote. your greedy and selfish to only keep what you got as us on the aa side have less ot pay and sick time plus parker took our flex vacation away. sito may have veto power but if we get a vote laa has the majority of the vote if we do not like it . I guess sitos hammer did not hammer out the best pay at us air. sito is out to keep his 250000 plus pay . he dose not care if you have your insurance are not like you said if he gets reelected he will give it up you may get another year of it. but that's it sito showed his true colors with the Boeing vote. he only cares about his self . I'm sure he has better insurance then all of us.

Same hammer at McGee Air Services and United Ground Services. Not saying that Sito is a labor guy, but the TWU leadership isn't supporting our health care and that's why they didnt' get a letter from what I heard. I've said before that a TA will either come around October after re-enrollment or section 6. If things go past January then it's gonna be a long time.

Are you sure that nut doesn't work in ORD?

I heard it from a guy who panhandles in front of 7 Eleven for Boxed Chicken and Slurpees.

Seems to me the IAM cheerleaders have gotten awfully defensive after choosing to not participate in yesterdays protest.
