JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

Hi Tim,
Did you see the new cost conscious leadership team at BA is wanting to effectively farm out all U.S. ground handling? Didn't their scope get whacked in the last round of negotiations when smaller single departure stations like ATL, DEN, and SAN got killed?

I wonder if BA were to want AA to assume some of this handling would the association object to taking on that work? Maybe this will wind up like an Alaska Air and McGee situation. At any rate, it's unfortunate to see BA management go this route and hopefully they will hold the line on scope.

BA doesn't ground handle their flights in the US. The IAM District 142 represents BA's Engineers aka Mechanics and the link you provided even states, ENGINEERS.

Get glasses Alice, get glasses.

WeAA this is also passenger service above the wing, ticketing, and premium lounges. Again they contracted out the smaller stations with single departures the last round of negotiations. DFW got contracted out for one, only BA personnel oversees the operation and supervises the contract personnel. At BOS Swissport does their BTW work and has for years, believe some locations are IAM represented third party handlers.

Question still stands, would the a$$ do scab work at say IAH or MIA and handle twodaily BA departures? Would CWA-IBT do the same for passenger service?

The master plan for JFK T8 is to eventually build it out and get BA in there as part of the JBV. They've just refurbished the Admirals Club and Flagship Lounge along with a new seated table service a la carte dining area. BA has a master lease on T7 and has many employees there across classifications. I wouldn't doubt for a minute combining into T8 and shedding those expenses (while realizing a gain on sale of an attractive master lease) is on Alex Cruz' agenda.

WeAA, just because an engineer rep is named on the bulletin doesn't mean it's only about aircraft maintenance. As it indicates there is also a steward and rep for customer service that was briefed.

Between this and the mixed fleet crews st Heathrow BA seems to be going all in to cut costs. Most mixed fleet crew members (who came about following the March 2010 industrial action) now want raises beyond the £17k or so they gross annually. So by labor standards aren't they scabs for undercutting the Worldwide and European (non-B scale) crews they are effectively replacing?

Many years ago, US, errrr... America West handled BA's fleet services in PHX, then we became too expensive with our JCBA with US. I doubt we are any cheaper today than the current contractor.

They used to until the iam agreed with management to contract them out then go after swissport. Could happen to us.

Why would we give a rat's backside about BA anyways? I mean really.

And Tim it would be nice if you stopped trying to cause trouble everywhere and being mentally ill. But maybe some things are beyond our control huh?
Its the result of not wearing deodorant. Gotta keep my testosterone levels high.

Are you picking up what they are laying down yet? I don't think so because the intruders are too stupid to figure it out and look freakin, yes, stupid, go figure man.

Look in a mirror. You are an intruder.

WeAA if management sends you to E Concourse to handle BA and take someone else's job would you oblige? Would you use the 700 justification and say doing otherwise would constitute insubordination like he rationalized IAM scabbing AMFA by performing start ups, receipt and dispatch?

the iam represents BA ticket agents. BA had outsourced that work at stations with 1 flight..now, it's all stations. i know a few of them in my station and it's nasty right now. they had heard the rumors for awhile, and unfortunately..the rumors were confirmed the other day.

these agents were/are earning decent money..currently in the $20s per/hr along with benefits..many have 20-30 years with BA. they had bucked the trend of most foreign carriers outsourcing operations with a swissport or a fly by night company, offering terrible customer service. aa dropped air berlin in ord and it's been a nightmare for air berlin ever since. on a daily basis, dozens of bags turning into a hundred, sitting idle in recheck...no agents to handle BSO operations. many of these bags connect to aa and since aa is the last carrier, aa is charged and pays for the burned bags.

i suppose the connection is that this could happen to our ticket agents and in turn, fleet service. i don't believe that for a minute, but i can see the connection.
