Ok NYer guilty as charged. I was a strong proponent for you not to be chosen to go anywhere near those talks just like you said. But the reason was never personal. It's my belief that in your almost desperation to grab the cash as quickly as possible to close the deal we would have lost long term value. It's ok to be a little apprehensive about what's coming around the corner but it's not ok to let that fear rule you.

My fear was that your strong ability to convince people of your point of view may have sealed the deal too fast just like the other 3 groups did. But now that we know financially where the industry has been set those talents of yours could come in handy?

Actually you're not my first choice though. My first choice would be AC out of Local 501. He's a team player and has a lot of grit in him. But my guess is that they'll want to stick with a President so yes IMO you are the next best choice. If people can look past all your shady underhanded nonsense though? That's the real tough pill to swallow for most.

"If asked you'll serve" That's a straight cop out bro. If you really want the gig you'd be advocating like a madman to try and grasp that ring. You're comment was meek and wishy washy. So to me it's obvious that you'd prefer to avoid it.

And who's making decisions that affect thousands every day? I hope you're not implying that's you? Daily? Extreme over exaggeration. You blog almost as much as I do and I'm not in any position. Just a ramper hanging out in between flights. Management makes the decisions here. And your job is to keep them in check if they're not making those decisions correctly.

C'mon man take one for the team. Get in there and show the members the strength of your skills. Let's see you get those issues you say they're having solved.

Go.

Weez the polar vortex is hitting NY at the end of the week. I think I'll head to MIA you guys need a referee

Thursday and Friday look quite pleasant up there.

Don't need a referee either. The contest is pretty much one sided anyway.

LOL.

Try to forget on how rough some of you think you have it, and think of those who have really have had a tougher. This kids at this years snowball express, benefiting the kids that lost a parent in the military.

Kind of makes other issues and concerns pale in comparison. From the Father of two serving... thank you for reminding us all. Great post!

President elect of 513, William Fa, will join the negotiating committee...ousted president, Brian Oyer, will also stay on as long as needed for the transition...

You're kidding me. They passed up TWU Local 568 President Sidney Jiminez again?

Are there personal issues with this guy or he just doesn't want to do it?

There's is a second opening also as Pete Hogan has dropped out...

Well if he doesn't get that one what's next? The Acme temp agency for Union Presidential services? Daffy Duck with a "Will strike if provoked" shirt.

Fa has a Masters degree in Labor Negotiations and is even a Negotiator for Tarrant County Tx. It appears to me as if his the members membership really want him to sit in a chair for them. And again Pete Hogan has left the building. --The current Association guideline for forming a Negotiating Committee doesn't specify consideration to any particular set of qualifications or the need to hold any particular position, whether elected or not.

Then I think the guidelines-bylaws should be amended to require any elected position that is part of the negotiation comity, have recent past experience in the very system they will altimitly have to live under. Do I want someone who only has a high school of GED negotiating wages, benefits and work rules? NO! As far as the election process, that too should be changes by the next elections. This past election seemed to be won just by the amount of flyers plastered to the gate houses and time clocks. In closing FA is the best fit for the job.

I think Fa will absolutely do a fine job Bob. As far as the continuing nonsense about other guys only having a High School education that doesn't really factor in each individual's over 25 years at AA under a CBA moving from Steward all the way up to President. The only difference between Fa and these other guys is he's had maybe more schooling in the psychological chess game against his opponents.

Again pointing out too many times to count now. All of those negotiators have direct access to professionals many of which have been doing this much longer than Fa. Some even got their degrees before Fa was born.

If what Filter said is true I hope all the guys on the team keep an open mind and give Fa a fair chance to see where his talents may be.

BTW Bob do you know how many stories I've heard of our TWU reps going into Arbitration hearings and beating the tar piss out of the companies Lawyers? Too many times to count.

Score quite a few for us High School flunkies.

The funny thing about the arbitration piece is that as USair has taken over, the closings for the arbitration's have gone to briefs instead of oral...you would think that would be an advantage for the lawyer, but that just has not been the case so far...you wait to get the transcripts then have generally around 30 days to submit at that point...

So you're saying that those High School flunkies are having even more success against the Legal Eagles then?

You see that's what I try to explain to people sometimes. It's nothing personal to the Lawyers but they just don't live day in and day out in the house. They basically stop by to visit once in awhile. They know exactly what the house looks like but they don't know where all the wires and plumbing run in it.

I was talking the other day about rushing to an agreement and how that's now going to be a costly mistake long term for our Pilots.

Well this news item just came out today from Ed Bastian over at Delta. Comes pretty close in line with what Parker was saying only a week or so before.

Again maybe the Leadership knows what they're doing a lot better than some people think by rushing things headlong?

US since the merger has gone up around 50% in BASE wages and the AA side has gone up over 40% so far. Individually not counting my 2 main loses in the BK, I think we're sailing along pretty nicely.
