Health insurance for example.  Trump vows to rid of Obamacare, while Hilary intends to keep it.  It affects businesses bottom line in a big way.  Also how the company feels the economy will do under each candidate.  Businesses generally always loosen their belts with a Repub and tighten them up under a Dem candidate on issues of spending, hiring, ect.
Nah. Highly doubt it.

OK you had no aspirations, happy to be a grunt didn't want to ride in the IAM personal jet OK
I never sought out anything, I was also the District Lodge 142 Communicator.

Never flew on the jet, but I have been on it when it came to CLT during the fleet campaign.

I was never a grunt, just was in it for the members and no personal gain.

I was also on the IAM/CO FA NC in 2005.

We were talking about our second bankruptcy contract I said I wanted a labor lawyer not a stock clerk
I had nothing to do with Fleet's Negotiating committee in chapter 11, I was on the Mechanic and Related NC.

And our CBA was abrogated as we couldnt agree to layoff 46% of the maintenance workforce nor agree to the pension termination.

Interesting article today on Marketwatch discussing 401k's and Pensions. Also why I've said I have an interest in having both a 401k match and the continuance of some type of Pension option to be as diversified as possible to support myself in my golden years.

This is a continuation on the subject of JCBA negotiations since hopefully we'll be offered choices.

I want my retirement portfolio to have as many layers as possible to have the best protection for each.

Health care is going to be a factor whomever the President is going to be. Even if you get rid of the ACA in it's entirety, costs will continue to rise even further. At least they are somewhat stable at the moment. But insurance companies are still getting theirs in one form or another.

It is not going to get lower any time soon, IMHO. So the only thing you can do is try to negotiate some sort of lower costs in any contract. (In my own case, my medical went up - due to me getting a higher cost comprehensive plan - but the District negotiated a better dental plan, in which my dental went down, ironically) And the ACA doesn't affect a lot of us anyway (because most of us make way above the thresholds), unless you don't have some sort of "bridge" until you are eligible for Medicare. But the costs (of health care) to businesses is a major concern to them.  And to Unions as well.

Is "single payer" the answer........?

I prefer to the option to have both.  The only problem is that many of us lost a lot of our 401K money in the downturn.

Still don't know when if or when we will be moved over to the IAMNPF, though.

Does CARP continue to accumulate for you T5? What do you think of it so far? Is UAL making up any of the shortfalls on an accelerated basis?

W, you are absolutely correct. Just over this past year, and now once monthly, my family and/or friends have started purchasing great discounts from Groupon and have been visiting the Brazillian's in the DFW area. I'm new to it. But damn, the meat is outstanding and you leave there way past stuffed. It is soooo good.

My ex wife is Brazillian. If it wasn't for her I might never have known how fantastic Brazillian BBQ is. Argentinian restaurants are just as good.
