JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA Fleet

Boy do you remember the old business World 9 to 5 with the HOUR Lunch.

Even they’ve gone 9 to 5:30 now with a half hour lunch. S Bag Corporations.

More like 7a to 7p but with autonomy to do personal/non-work related things like post occasionally on here and schedule appointments for doctor visits, etc that can’t be scheduled outside of working hours.

Anyone that works a salaried full time exempt job and gets by working only 40 hours is both lucky and in the minority. I know this may be hard for you understand given the structure and nature of your bids and TWU CBA weez.

Not hard at all for me to understand actually. My good long time friend Dan works for an Aircraft Engine leasing Company and works all sorts of insane hours. Not to mention having to fly all over the World. For that with total Compensation he makes in the $150,000 per year range.

But talking to him in all honesty for what it’s worth I would have zero interest in trading jobs with him. The money is not worth (to me) all the incredible stress he has in his life. And his Boss is completely nuts.

And our other buddy Fred works for True Green lawn service making $15 per hour and has a truck with no Air Conditioning. (College Degree too BTW) And no Union. He sprays pesticides on bushes and shrubs (Total scam BTW) But at least he earns some pay I guess.

How is the guy you helped get in from Eulen doing?

Everyone I’ve ever helped get into AA through a personal recommendation is doing great. But why do you ask?

Do you think it’s wrong of me to try and help people get in if I see something in them that shows promise? Someone else helped me get in once.

Glad you helped make a difference for someone, but management was the enabler here. Someone made an arbitrary and subjective judgement to tell Michael “yes” over hundreds of other qualified applicants. But that’s good he is still around, as you know new hires are getting burned out and leaving which costs the company a lot of money for onboarding, training and background checks.

Sounds like your friend Dan has chosen one commodity (money) over another (time). For me personally, life's too short for that.

The idea that working "insane hours" is somehow a virtue is just absurd.

Too simple a response Josh. Management are people. Individuals. The decisions made by someone based off of a reason to make it. In my case it was my friend Jerry’s work ethic, reputation and judgment that I would make a valuable employee.

And the same I hope for people I “helped” gain a job. The ultimate decision what to make or not make of the job being there’s.

I haven’t recommended many but the ones I have recommended in my career are all still with us today.

I personally would rather have to find my own time to eat instead being forced to be there 8.5 hours and only get paid for 8.

lol we're stuck with both here for now and who ever asked a few page ago my AA counterpart gets .59 cent more than I do. the reason I was told it got overlooked when the raises happened.

we have manager here a former LAA guy and CC 32 year guy according to him my duties and the AA CC's are not that far apart. He did say they are out there more than they used to be.

As far as managers go he may interact with the assign lead on staffing numbers making sure there are enough bodies.
This can vary if said manager is getting heat from above to keep ot hours down.
I don't have much interaction with a manager on a given day unless its casual conversation or I'm bitching about something to him

My point is WeAA there is a degree of subjectivity to the decision and judgement that is made. Once someone is onboard and under the TWU CBA it goes by date of entry into classification. Sure there maybe some subjectivity for crew chief awards and discipline but the role of your bargaining representative is to ensure objectivity in how the contract is upheld, bids are awarded, etc.

A grievance committee hearing absolutely can drift into subjectivity but a good union rep comes armed with knowledge of what happened, knowledge of the CBA, etc to remove that subjectivity.

Ok so what. Maybe some of us actually accept and even take comfort in the security of not having to compete in the location we spend so much time at to pay our bills?

I’d rather compete for things by my own choice.

Low risk, low reward. Everything is relative and everyone has different priorities in life and career.

I have no confidence in our NC representatives. GP applied three times to be in management,
sito guy in bed with parker, The international side Alex Garcia nice guy maybe but clueless about airline issues, and the twu int pres well he's even more clueless about the airline business.
Who is our financial guy in the room to cost out items. The company has a slew of financial advisers to cost out different asks.

ATD are you at all willing to disclose who you are so readers here can gauge how much value your opinions have?

With how adept you have been in the past at being able to answer some technically tough questions my assumption is that you are a former International or ATD rep?

I seriously want to gauge if “I” think your opinions “could” have Political motivations? You just put out a lot to swallow about quite a few people here.

I have no political motivations. I am an informed member. I will tell you this, I have been involved with union negotiations not ours and it was for fire and police unions.
The only assumption made above was sito being in bed with parker.
