Weez will make an appeal for no outsourcing on here but when it comes time to vote if it means more money for him he will sell out small stations, catering, deicing, etc.

He will still get to work on container loading equipment doing one of the least physically demanding jobs on the ramp with lots of downtime between widebody departures.

There is definitely a place the airline wants to maintain as their target for negotiations and although I agree with your analysis, I also believe there is a plan in place to make the current publicized proposal as a baseline and there will be a better option coming as they hear the feedback from the floor.

For instance, there are some that have pointed out the deicing piece and the pay rates (speaking on the TWU Fleet side). To me, their big item would be the IAM medical. So, what happens as we complain about the pay rates and the deicing and the next proposal has the UA +3% with the 2.5% annual raises and they grandfather the large stations with the deicing work? In order words, they check off some of the things we currently don't like. It leaves the leadership in a tough spot as some Members would want to see the entire package since their current concerns have been addressed.

The IAM side may also see some improvements in the pension piece, for instance, or some other aspect they deem important.

Would we be able to hold everyone together if some of the current negatives are erased?

It would be easier for Maintenance to hold their nose because they face much bigger systemic changes that directly affects a much larger percentage of their population.

Maybe it doesn't happen that way, but if it does, sure hope everyone would be ready and talking about different possibilities only helps us in staying in front of the process rather than become reactive.

to me, this is good stuff. cuts right to the matter.

Looks good, what's the cost?

i hoped you were sarcastic.

laa had 10 paid holidays @ 2 1/2 pay, worked or not, many years ago. laa had as many/more vc weeks. laa lost 1 vc week in 1995, 1 vc week in 2003 and 1 vc week in 2011. laa had 12 paid sick days from 2001-2003.

the company will never lose money again. the ceo claims aa will earn on average $5 billion a year. these 'offers' are preposterous, when weighing and measuring everything.

I was being sarcastic, when I asked what the cost was. I am sure they will want something, to get you back to pre-bankruptcy contract status.

Fair enough kev... I have a couple of questions -- How did you "lose representation"?
Was is voluntary, or involuntary? Do you work for LAA/LUS/AA?

Of course there is "a place the airline wants to maintain as their target for negotiations"... the key word of course is "WANTS"
That's why it's called negotiating, and not submissively accepting what's offered. What the airline "wants" is not necessarily what the Membership 'wants'...
You have not revealed any deep secret here...
