You failed to respond to my question. You have your way of negotiating, which; correct me if I'm wrong, goes something like "I can see we are in the 90th percentile Mr Parker - that's plenty - we are done now." Then, there is actually negotiating for the best contract - my preferred way.
BTW, in case you haven't been paying attention on this BB for the last decade or so, your assumptions couldn't be further from the truth. Regarding the pension, it's frozen at about 25 years - not gone. It's probably a good thing to have a combination of the two types of retirement plans anyway. It's just a little more money in my 401K in the end.
Now, why don't you be a sport and bounce.
Right.........because going to the company with a request for more compensation with no other justification than a
shipping company offers their aircraft mechanics more compensation is a valid negotiation tactic in a heavily UNIONized industry where they have seniority locked "lifers" who, let's face it, are going
NOWHERE despite the outcome of the contract.
Something you are not considering is the company is more concerned about attracting new employees than satisfying "lifers". Considering your compensation package is in the top 10th percentile I think they have accomplished that. From their perspective why should they negotiate. They can attract new employees and you are not going anywhere. We all know the TWU is not going to strike.
The company does not think you deserve more just because another company, who is
NOT in the airline business, is compensating their mechanics more.
It's time to visit Realville.
You live in a fantasy world where you think you deserve just because someone else has. The world does not work that way despite what socialist UNION propaganda may claim.
Instead of trying to use the compensation package of another company in a totally different business to justify your ask why don't you base your ask on the merits of the American Airlines maintenance program . That is all I am saying.
Or you can keep trying to justify what you want from a position of fantasy and stupidity. It's your choice. In the end I really don't care.
Yes, your pension is frozen and not gone but, lets not forget, the company tried to dump it on the PBGC. The fact your pension is frozen and not gone has NOTHING to do with the UNION.
