JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA AMTS

Ignore him and he'll fade away like 700 did. This topic is drifting like a bad IRU. So did anyone see the weekly update? Not much info. Sadly we get more detailed updates from SWA and UAL.

What UPS and Fed Ex pay their AMTs; as it turns out,is a factor for wages and benefits when negotiating.

You even said as much, would they not be competing for the same new hires?  It is, after all, the same profession

Why bother when AA has Tulsa Tech, Tulsa Community College, and Spartan providing them recruits near the largest commercial maintenance base in the world?
 

Besides, our pay is pretty close with our industry peers now, we just need to restore the other important items that our union gave away.

Regarding "lifers", many of us could retire right now, and start collecting our frozen pension, and relocate - even pick up another job in a city where we actually wanted to live.  It's happening right now.  BTW, you brought up the whole pension bit - not me.

Like I said the contract is not designed to retain lifers. If it is "happening right now" as you say that is just further proof their strategy is working. By all means make room for the new guard.
 

Why would we want to base our pay on a maintenance program that most of us think sucks?

the Mechanics biggest problem in seeking a different form of representation has been getting the Line to participate in the beginning and then after the Line did come on board, the TWU supporters split themselves. Those that basically always supported the TWU and those that never understood the concept of AMFA and those that attempted to have the Teamsters try.
 
Tulsa has never had the unity in needed to change representation. Now the original AMFA supporters, in general, have little time to work a new card drive. Any attempt will be for those younger mechanics and those that are not here yet.

The Line turn out was much smaller in the late 80's, early 90's. However, their participation was excellent the last couple of drives. As I said there is division in Tulsa and many who just cannot make up their minds. 
 
As for time remaining, I am referring to those of us that are approaching retirement.

The line turn out was always strong. It has always been Tulsa that never wanted to change. The many supporters in Tulsa faced a uphill intimidating battle on every drive. Now I hear guys in Tulsa crying for line support due to the big threat of outsourcing. Spare us your sympathy. I'm not interested anymore. My next goal is retirement in about ten years.
You can always put your name on the transfer list to New York or Chicago or Los Angeles. If the phase checks are heading to third party venders and south America don't expect much work to stay in Tulsa.

The truth is if you had anything legitimate to say to discredit me you would have said it by now.
 
You may not like what I say. However, anytime you ask anybody for anything in a negotiation you have to justify the ask. "Because they have" is not an acceptable justification on the company side of the table.

We all have a dog in the fight of fair pay and standard of living.
 
I want to see you guys have the best standard of living as possible.
 
That being said you have no real plan besides "wait and see what the UNION does".
 
If anything I am trying to get you to take a more analytical look at your situation. I am trying to light a fire under your ass to take initiative to shape your own future instead of taking a passive stance and letting a UNION decide your future behind closed doors.
 
Being a passive dependent is a futile endeavor.
 
That is why you have so many mechanics pushing for AMFA.
 
"We'll get em' next time" should never be an acceptable answer for a failed negotiation.
