I was thinking of the current negotiations and was curious if the association is going after the 4% that we have not received in almost 3 years. It was brought up a few months ago in a meeting from a negotiator returning from negotiations. We were told that it would only amount to few hundred dollars. I personally did the math and currently bring the total to over 8500.00 dollars. I personally don't care what they call it, signing bonus. All I know is this is money owed to us. So please union don't use this as a negotiated item. Just my opinion!!!
My numbers come up a bit less, but I like the idea Matt. I believe the 4% letter came out December 23 2014, effective January 2015. That being said I'd be really surprised to get any sort of meaningful signing bonus.

All the pay raises if there ever are any should be retro. The 4% back to when everyone else got it and the Delta + whatever back to when they announced that.. There should be a signing bonus ON TOP of that.

Money is still owed to us! In some of the town hall meetings Richard Isom said we will get the money. Retroactive I do not know?

If I remember correctly UAL had to keep stations open for 5 years after their merger, they are just over 5 year mark and are now considering closing eithe IDA or LAX as hubs.

What will AA do next year?

The only retro I can remember was the 2001 contract. A meaningful signing bonus would certainly lessen the sting of this whole thing. I'm not counting on it though. I'm very doubtful we will see anything this year.

I seem to remember that JFK took the TWU to court saying they didn't vote in 2003 concessions. If I remember correctly the ruling was that the TWU owns the contract not the members, so it doesn't matter if we vote or not.

Holy cow, there is the possibility that we won't even get the opportunity to vote on our contract.
I find it interesting how the MX group doesn't consider following the path of the stews and pilots and bringing back the representation in house instead of contracting out your union to 3rd party labor organizations to service, like the TWU. Whether IBT, AMFA, TWU, IAM, all of them are 3rd parties that a union [the employees] hire to service the contract. Why not do like the pilots or the stews and simply fire the 3rd party goons and bring the servicing of the contract in house where it belongs?

Lol, bless your heart Tim. The AMTS are held hostage by complacency and industrial unionism.

YAWN....Read it and weep fellas...

We exchanged and discussed the following articles this week:

Training – M&R, MLS, & MCT: We exchanged these proposals again this week and the company continues to refuse to recognize your seniority for selection purposes, which may impact your overtime and field trip opportunities. Your committee refuses to accept any proposal that could adversely impact you financially.
Overtime – M&R & MLS: The company responded to your committee’s proposal on overtime but their response fell short of what is required to meet the needs of the membership. We have narrowed this down to a few issues, one of which is your right to refuse overtime.
Vacation – M&R & MLS: We are still waiting on the company to respond to our proposal.
Holidays – M&R, MLS, MTS & MCT: We have narrowed this issue down to how much we will be paid on a holiday.
Limited Duty – M&R, MLS, MCT & MTS: Your committee passed this proposal to the company and is awaiting a response.
We remain united, committed and resolute in negotiating the JCBAs we deserve. We appreciate your continued solidarity—support and patience are imperative in helping us obtain this goal. We will reconvene in Dallas next week

Here lies the problem......Exchange proposals, review proposals and respond to proposals...What is the point of face to face negotiations when a group of negotiators cannot solve issue by issue by simply arguing it out. It seems that one side does not have full authority to make decisions on the spot.

Im not a mechanic but your craft has gone down the tubes as a result of having others make decisions for you. The pilots and stews fired the 3rd party bums and insourced the servicing of their union.

It makes no sense to continue fighting the labor reps who dont listen and dont care and to expect a different outcome.

Sadly we fight ourselves. That's the reason why we are where we are today.

Seems like many are tied to a certain group whether that be iam twu amfa ibt. Imo that makes no sense since those are all outside 3rd party vendors who want to be or stay hired to service your union. It seems to me a better and wiser path is maintaining your own control and not giving power of attorney to any outsiders, especially if these monkeys toss you in the iampf.

Bringing in the servicing of your contract, in house, instead of contracting it out to a labor organization seems to be the way to go. Our pilots got rid of the outside party as well as our stews. So should we if this association continues its infighting.
