JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA AMTS

That's between you, but you are both working on the same planes. The guys without the A/Ps now that a different story beside I doubt the company would ever go with paying OH different than line. Maybe to save jobs? Also wouldn't a the OH people just transfer to the line?

Like I said, my job competes with SWA,DAL,UAL mechs, the higher paid mechs and AA OH competes with AAR, Timco and various forign MRO operations in S America and China, where there is one mech signing for unlicensed mechs. That's why AA will never bring all of AAs Maint back in house.

Yes Tulsa mechs can transfer to Line stations, but then they will have to move to a hub city where the price of a home and some land is a lot more expensive. So they will not leave Oklahoma unless forced to.

Line mechs will out number OH mechs for our next contract, and the idea of taking less to save OH jobs will not fly again. Two contacts 2003 and 2012 we took to save OH jobs, only to see both MCI and AFW close.

The OH mechs are very talented mechs with the same responsibility as line mechs, but OH work is being farmed out to MROs that have a different pay scale and work rules then line mechs.

For instance OH mechs work one portion of one fleet, while line mechs work all systems all fleets, but OH mechs get deeply involved in that one area. Line mechs work 24/7 operation, while most OH mechs 5/8s with sat sun off. All line mechs require an A&P license, while not all OH mechs require an A&P license.

American Eagle mechs make less then AA mechs, just like WNBA players make less then NBA players. We all have the same responsibility but it's what revenue you are generating or what your competition is. Same with pilots and FAs, Eagle flight crews have same responsibility but make less then AA flight crews.

Pump the brakes there bigjets. I'm at DWH otherwise known as hangar 5 at DFW. Some genius designated it as overhaul, it's definitely NOT. I worked overhaul for over 20 years, DWH work is not it. We do the same work on the same aircraft working the same schedules. We do that work for less pay. No line pay, no MRT pay. That's $1.05/ hr less.
This past Sunday I taxied 3 737s and 1 777-300 to and from the gates. We are expected to do the oil cards with each move. It's my understanding that dfw move crews do not. I was also assigned a PS on one of those 737s. Wednesday night we picked up 6 RON from DFW. No line pay, no cs and now overtime is severely restricted.
Sorry but I get a burr under my saddle when lumped in with traditional overhaul. I have nearly 27 years and have not seen Saturday/Sunday off in many moons. End of my little rant, carry on.

I couldn't agree more. We can thank the TWU for agreeing to that. You guys are definitely being taken advantage of. That's why I refer to Tulsa when speaking of OH. I can't believe there are 20 year mechs working as OSMs. I wouldn't doubt that DWH expands into DFWs hangars and DFWs head count shrinks.

I see DWH as DFWs hangar operation. Just think what will happen to dfw and DWH if there are layoffs in Tulsa and we do the layoffs the IAM way, where your seniority determines where you go, not station openings.

Funny thing, my understanding is that there were negotiations this week. IF there were not even the courtesy of an update. Now the union communication seems to be dropping off.

Well, we all know what DFW really stands for!

"You are the Union" is what they tell me!

I'm thinking someone, somewhere who has it pretty sweet now will be ending up here?

Ouch what a lifestyle change on this one.

That would be a crash pad and a commute, hopefully everyone will stay put

All those new planes coming in doesn't exactly make that really feasible just being honest.

I would say more hopefully there's a very nice buyout package in the future?

A lot of the animosity stems from the concession days. TUL Mechanics carried the voting majority and had zero consideration that cuts affect people quite differently depending on where you live.

TUL Mechanics joined unfortunately by the MIA President at the time even shot down a small COLA for their Brothers and Sister outside of that cushy little home of there's.

Say what you want but it is absolute reality that OH Mechanics in TUL live an extremely good lifestyle there. And they don't want to give up even a single dime.

A lot of Line Mechanics want to blame the TWU as an entity for the fact that they were so dramatically underpaid to their industry peers. But the reality is/was LAA performs more OH by far than the competitors and that came at a price that many Line guys really don't want to pay.

That had nothing to do with the TWU or us little lowly FSC's. Their decisions were their own that they made.

But I also think the line guys now hold the voting majority by far so this could be interesting?
It has everything to do with the twu. They agree to this crap and bring it back and tell the members that's the best we can do. They play scare tactics to the members if you don't vote yes on this then they will be big lay offs. Then it's voted in and the lay offs comense you do not know what your talking about. And yes it has to do with fleet service. The company offers so much money for the twu groups maint and related. So we get screwed with our sick time and vacation so they can keep there biggest group happy. You will miss us when we get our own union then who's coat tale are you going to ride on. The twu is a buisness there going to do what it takes to make fleet happy. They do not care that they screwed maint to do it. I thank you should worry about your on group since your the biggest group the company will be looking to cut you guys down to size. Your always wanting layoffs for the mechanic group. When do union members of other groups bring up how many are in a other group and tell us we should be paid less. Your anti mechanic no doubt about it . Your not a true union member either. Your a punk that's all you are.

From what I see on the local 591 website, there was no negotiations last week and there are none scheduled.

At some point the union may want to come through with a good contract, especially with the right to work being pushed as a federal law.

Cuirious to find out how many guys will continue to pay for this kind of representation if not forced to.

You have been screwed? Now that's a laugh and a quarter. Keep deflecting buddy. Most intelligent people in this group know EXACTLY who did the real screw job on the Line Maintenance members and it wasn't some silly acronym or a bunch of lowly little clerks either.

Here's who really screwed the line Mechanics with their vote so many years ago now.
