JCBA Negotiations and updates for AA AMTS

We AMTs voted yes for the SRPs (OSM) in 95, WE voted in 2003, and 2012 concession contracts, our presidents voted against a raise in 2008, WE voted against a raise in 2010. So basically it's been by our own decisions to be with the contract we have. It's not so much Albert being a IGM (he's just being a jerk) it's us saving jobs in 2003 and us (collectively) accepting (foolishly) nothing less then restore and more.
You are calling me a jerk and you think you could possibly get restore and more? Never ever happen not in a million years. You guys can pat yourselves on the back all day long you won't see it

Until you can figure out how to stop the overall growth rate of MRO's, I don't see how (honestly) you can keep demanding this restore and more mantra many of you have in your minds? You're fighting against a tide that I just don't see any Union in the industry putting up enough resistance against.

That goes for AMFA, TWU, IAM and the IBT.

It's YOU guys not raising enough of a stink for any of them to fight for you or joining them in that fight IMO.

Could one or more of the Line Mechanics from both AA and USAir explain the current CS policy?

It appears that this "policy" will be implemented at the next shift change at TULE.

If any TULE mechanics know the new policy please feel free to comment.

You are correct but also remember that the TWU international has always divided up the money on the table. When it was time for givebacks they took much more from each AMT. When it was time for raises the other work groups made sure they got theirs. We have historically been the lowest paid AMTs while the other groups have been among the highest. The ones bringing these contracts back from negotiations were the TWU negotiators. Many of us tried to get rid of the TWU before they could damage us any more but we were stymied each time. The last time it was AA who conspired with the TWU to stop the AMFA drive. TWU was more than willing to accept the help too. This alone should have convinced AMTs to kick them out. Unfortunately we are not known for being an intelligent membership. Can't fix stupid.

I see the Airline executives were meeting with Pres. Trump this morning. I didn't see Doug there. He was probably too busy working on our contract.
No Doug is conducting management meetings in Dallas where he's most likely telling his minions how fortunate they are to have him and his executives stealing every penny of profit while destroying the airline.

I was calling you a jerk because you were bragging about the double time you still get. AMTs gave that up in 2003. You bragged about taking work away from AMTs, that's why I referred to you being a jerk. Mechs have gotten the same percentage pay raises as FSCs, but gave up more money and work rules in 2003.

I do agree with you though, that expecting restore and more in 2008 and 2010 was foolishness on a grand scale. You can look to the know nothing vote NO at all cost for that.

I asked if the OH mechs would be willing to have a separate contract from line mechs that would compete with MROs and bring ALL work back in house. That question received a lot of negative comments from the current OH mechs, but the OH mechs working in line stations away from home would be open to a competitive contract to go home.

you are right I was being a jerk and a annoying obnoxious one at that. Again none of my business but you think a line AMT with the same licenses as a OH AMT should be paid differently?I had no idea there was so much friction between the groups. It has to be over something more than just your work

The OH mechs are very talented mechs with the same responsibility as line mechs, but OH work is being farmed out to MROs that have a different pay scale and work rules then line mechs.

For instance OH mechs work one portion of one fleet, while line mechs work all systems all fleets, but OH mechs get deeply involved in that one area. Line mechs work 24/7 operation, while most OH mechs 5/8s with sat sun off. All line mechs require an A&P license, while not all OH mechs require an A&P license.

American Eagle mechs make less then AA mechs, just like WNBA players make less then NBA players. We all have the same responsibility but it's what revenue you are generating or what your competition is. Same with pilots and FAs, Eagle flight crews have same responsibility but make less then AA flight crews.

That's between you, but you are both working on the same planes. The guys without the A/Ps now that a different story beside I doubt the company would ever go with paying OH different than line. Maybe to save jobs? Also wouldn't a the OH people just transfer to the line?

A lot of the animosity stems from the concession days. TUL Mechanics carried the voting majority and had zero consideration that cuts affect people quite differently depending on where you live.

TUL Mechanics joined unfortunately by the MIA President at the time even shot down a small COLA for their Brothers and Sister outside of that cushy little home of there's.

Say what you want but it is absolute reality that OH Mechanics in TUL live an extremely good lifestyle there. And they don't want to give up even a single dime.

A lot of Line Mechanics want to blame the TWU as an entity for the fact that they were so dramatically underpaid to their industry peers. But the reality is/was LAA performs more OH by far than the competitors and that came at a price that many Line guys really don't want to pay.

That had nothing to do with the TWU or us little lowly FSC's. Their decisions were their own that they made.

But I also think the line guys now hold the voting majority by far so this could be interesting?

Bottom line give up some work for better compensation. But now ALL of AA licensed AMTS will be paid is the same ballpark as the other big three so if the company wants to in source more work it's on them. On the other hand If it's a bargaining chip. King Solomon anyone
