US' fleet is younger than AA's fleet.

US's average fleet age is 12.7 years.

AA's is 14.9 years.

Where it says that a merger with Delta would run into antitrust issues, do people realize that if need be there are ways around these issues?

you do realize that IF a merger with Delta were to happen the AA name will dissappear as well as more than half the employees . It will be a break up and eliminiation of the AA franchise . Tell me why do you think that is a better option than Merging with US ? I am just asking . Not trying to be smart .

And Mikey is failing to mention how many of those 512 will be replacement A/C...
Details, Details....

Who ever said they wouldnt be? Yea details details.

I think that person would be YOU...
When boasting about the 512, you made it sound as if they were going to be an addition to the fleet. I think that you are hearing the footsteps Mikey....
I see it's now "Your" American Airlines, so maybe you can tell them to stop screwing you, unless you enjoy screwing yourself that is.

Nah, I'm done. Just get a kick out of Mikey who wil keep cheering while they are taking it in the shorts. I find this all amusing as he has cringed at the idea of a US merger for years. Most of us on either side are looking for nothing more than a solid stable company with some growth on the horizon. I have been thru 3 mergers already, and said that I don't care where my check comes from as long as I still get one.

Those 512 planes have not been approved for purchase by the court.
There's no requirement to have the purchase of the 500+ new planes approved by the bankruptcy court, as most will be delivered after AA exits Ch 11. As an aside, AA has received approval for progress payments to Boeing and Airbus for the 2013-2017 deliveries of 230 planes.

FA Mikey didn't claim that those orders were growth aircraft. FA Mikey was responding to the (correct) claim that the US fleet is younger than the AA fleet. When AA placed that order last year, AA was on target to have the youngest mainline fleet in the industry by 2017. Of course, since then, DL and UA have placed new orders for narrowbodies that might mean that AA's fleet will not be the youngest.

I don't see FA Mikey claiming that the 500+ new planes would be growth aircraft - but they will make the AA fleet younger - a lot younger, than the US fleet by 2017 (unless US announces plans to replace a lot more of its older aircraft than it already has).

He simply stated that they were getting the 512, with the implication that this would be some earth-shattering even within the industry.
