Industry-leading TA reached!

There has to be more to this. I would think there is some kind of requirement to have an employee log some kind of ours to be called an employee. If that is the case, then I know many who would take F/A jobs and just keep their other higher paying non-benefited/cash job or a home business.

I have to admit that I am extremely unhappy about the dropping of the 40 hour minimum.  Particularly since this morning's email said that one could drop to zero hours and still accrue sick and vacation.  I'm sorry.  If you want to call yourself a flight attendant, you should be required to fly unless you are ill.  Drawing benefits while not working is called retirement.

What other job do you know of that allows you to never come to work and keep your job AND your benefits?
It is because AA is overstaffed and they are willing to sustain a short term increase in costs by carrying employees that they do not need.

It will be the same as it is today. It will be a rolling 12 month look back. So instead of every month having to have at least 40 hours, now you have to average it out for the year. 480 paid hours to accrue vacation and sick. Jim, did you miss the employment threshold? It is back. 204 hours a year to maintain employment. 17 average a month. VERY doable! I think the employment threshold should be there and am glad it is back. As most would say, this is a job and not a place to leave your hat for some sort of hobby when you get bored and want to get outta town. I already voted yes, since I occupy planet earth and don't live with my head in the sand. This was the one minor problem I had. This is a very reasonable alternative. Now let's hope cooler heads prevail and we don't shoot ourselves in the foot!

If Facebook is any indication, I worry some of our coworkers are living on other planets and/or have their heads in the sand, unfortunately. I hope they are just a very vocal minority. I want to see this TA pass, and pass by a lot.

Thanks.  I missed the part about the employment threshhold (dealing with EPTs, no Recurrent Training, no Continuing Qualifications training.  Don't you wish they would settle on a name for this stuff?)  I would rather have the employment threshhold than not able to drop below 40 hours.  Though I fly just my line and nothing more, I don't drop trips, but I have friends who need to do it from time to time for family or personal reasons.  That I don't mind at all.

I had already voted yes.  Galley talk is driving me crazy.  No matter what, some people just are not going to be happy.  You could tell them they are going pay us $100 per hour and they would respond anything below $110 I am not signing!

Becoming an aircraft mechanic was a foolish decision. Instead of going to a trade school for 2 years then working for 3 years at a commuter airline, to get experience, I could have just gotten an application and check marked flight attendant and I would have a better schedule and be making more money.

Congratulations to the FA's for having a great Union / profession. You deserve everything you get.

I would hope they would read and take heed, but flight attendants have not demonstrated in the past a great ability to put reason ahead of emotion, and facts before galley gossip.  Well, when they force a $92 million cut in the total value of the TA, I hope they will step up and be the first to donate all of their increases to those who need that $92 million.  It would be the solidarity thing to do.

the FAs would be foolish to vote this TA down, as it would go to arbitration and you would get an average of delta and united not more then delta which is what you WILL get. You will not renegotiate as the pilots will be negotiating the agents start negotiations next month then the IAM/TWU negotiate
