It's an 11.5 year scale to get to TOS.That said, using you as an example -and assuming there were openings- I'm willing to bet that you could get in the door anywhere but MEM?

Ok then I have to give credit where credit is due. That part is far superior against my side of the fence. Why is that so? Is there a high turnover rate for ramp at DL?

Our scale is 9 years. But depending on where you hire in and airport minimums it can be much shorter. MIA is 6 years because people are started on the 3rd wrung.

On the RR side, yes IMO...

On the FT side, lots of things like retirements, Early Outs, and station closings have helped.

One of the things the NW CBA had that I would like to see (re)implemented is an annual early out program. They would offer 100 spots a year, with enhanced severance, bridge medical (IIRC), and a couple other sweeteners to entice people. I know that number sounds like tea-in-the-ocean, but depending on where you are and/or who goes, it might mean you getting off a poor shift, or being able to finally transfer to where you'd really like to be.

There are plenty of people who see the value in waiting for a career to develop at DL.

and of course they don't have to put with the contentious labor relations that exist at every other unionized carrier and is now being seen even at WN which has largely been exempt from it.

AA and have a lot more of its hubs in high cost cities.

DL employees have a much higher standard of living than their peers at other airlines because of the higher total compensation that DL employees get combined with the lower cost of living where a higher percentage of DL employees are based.

these and other reasons are part of the reason why the IAM had to withdraw its application for the representation of DL FAs since they did not get enough valid cards

Station closings? Were those stations outsourced or did DL pull out?

And I would LOVE to see something like you just described on my side of the fence as well. With over 14000 rampers it would have to be substantially more than 100 though. They could do it on a station by station basis.

Can you please try and do the Christian thing and control yourself. I am not conversing with you and unlike Kev who has the ability to portray both the good and bad of the company HE actually works for, you do not have that ability and do not work there.

Please try and control your urges.

I was think of actions by both PM carriers (7.5, BK's by both, post-merger parings, etc.), all of which have led to the make-up of today's ramp group.

Same here. I'm just saying that even a small number can have a real ripple effect, and it could be a real win-win all around.

My QOL thankfully has now shifted from a pursuit of compensation to more of a personal preference where I want to live. In that my choices are FLL, MIA or PBI. At AA for me that would be MIA because of the hub status and my shift and days off are far more agreeable than a smaller station. Other factors if available though would probably have me chose FLL or PBI? (Cousins live in Boca)

Mine too. Would love to be able to help others at my company get to the same place you & I are at.
Continued advocacy to point out issues that need or should be corrected is all you can do Kev. At least when you walk out the door you can hold your head up high and say that you "tried" Even better of course would say "accomplished"

Advocacy is fine.

silencing the voices of those who agree while providing a platform for those who want to throw dirt at the company that a lot of DL people like really is a problem.

Being Christian is telling the truth. Truth is not exactly friendly to some people. Go read the Gospels if you think that Jesus got along with everyone.

There are also some of us that said years ago and are just as determined to make sure that the things that have made DL strong for decades continue to be the case. We are advocating for improvement that makes DL stronger while some want to destroy what has been built and replace that with something that doesn't work as well.

Anyone that wants less and wants to be a part of the fights with mgmt that have marked the airline industry for decades can go work for another airline including AA where that is the norm. and they can get the lower compensation and all of the things that unions say they can deliver but don't do near as well as DL does.

Your perception is quite scued sir. I like working for and at American Airlines personally. I by far do not have an adversarial demeanor against management in general. But at least unlike you I am able to recognize their shortcomings.

That ability is something you sorely or psycopathiclly lack.

Also why your comments for the extreme majority of times hold zero credibility and are mostly mocked. But you don't care anyway.

Hey Kev keep up the faith. Change takes time but change can and will come eventually.

Michael Minerva of American Airlines says, "Starting July 1 all workers at the airport will receive a wage of at least $12 an hour."

What's more, the airlines promised they would send a strong message to their contractors that the airlines will not oppose union organizing efforts.

"We do not oppose. We will not terminate an agreement with any of our contractors if they elect to organize or if employees elect to organize... That's a new commitment that
American and the other airlines are making," Minerva said.

The union that has been pushing the negotiations for the workers is also pleased.

Gabriel Morgan from the Service Employee International Union tells us, "Finally, at least they will have their legal rights respected and they will actually make at least $12 an hour. We think that is a great first step."

I never said that you shouldn't like working for AA.

but when it comes to basic economic issues, your peers at DL make more.

Period.

They don't find it near as difficult to work for DL as some people who control this board do either.

DL people have consistently been free to choose what they want but they have chosen not to fund big labor's corporate jets and 6 digit salaries that have left union represented employees worse off than their peers at DL.

DL has merged with multiple airlines and many of the most adamant non-union supporters are former union members at those airlines who see how good it really is at DL.

Sometimes a generation has to be washed out in order to get to the Promised Land. The rest of us will get there and leave some dry bones in the desert.

Tell that to Doug Parker and the stellar AA management team that doesn't seem to see things the way you do. They have sent a clear and powerful message that they will respect their employees right to CHOOSE without interference.

So much for your Cult-ture.

Bravo Doug, BRAVO.
