I just worked with a former "EAST" F/A - Many topics

Wait until the passengers see it. I witnessed it this week and thought it was so pathetic I almost laughed, but then just really felt sorry for the little girl who was doing it. And the Easties think they have junior people, wait until they see who is working on the west side of the operation.

Maybe AWA passengers are more mature. They have been seeing this for almost two years and haven't laughed yet.

I wish I could tell you exactly what they do, but I was almost crying I was laughing so hard, I didn't get it all down. Let me tell you, when she got down on her knees and started crossing her arms, I almost peed myself--had the FA given me the whole mini, I probably would have.

None of our security procedures or door disarming procedures require you to "get on your knees" with the exception of disarming the 737 doors.

And PLEASE do not discuss security procedures on here.

Well in all fairness there are SAFETY procedures....and then there is OVERKILL. Talking out loud to ones self...may be a bit much!

Really? Pilots do it all the time! NASA implemented pilots talking to themselves and it stopped them from busting altitude. Still overkill for someone who looses their job (or a 30 day unpaid suspention) for blowing a slide?

Another Super Safety Stew huh? Get over yourself. It's not that serious!

Well...we have write-up crazy flight attendants, supervisors etc. that will write us up if we don't follow procedures. It's so stupid I know! We had a flight attendant who got a suspension because he went pass overwing. It's so by the book and I hate it sometimes especially during emergency medical situations. I had a situation one time when I had a medical problem in the back and the two flight attendants were up in the front because one had to guard the door while the pilots use the lavatories. It's so stupid and frustrating! I had no help and had to deal with the medical situation by myself. I hope they change this policy because if there's fire in the back galley, we need the back-up flight attendant to assist.
Well from where I see it you should not be posting this response on a public forum!!!! And the best solution would be for the company to bring back the forth f/a!

Worked a West flight the other day and asked the A F/A to give something (ticket or bag tag) to the customer in row 5 for me so I could finish up in the jetway. "Oh, I cant go past FC." was the response. Huh? I knew you arent supposed to get off the plane into the jetway, but cant go the other way either?

Also is it FAR or company that predeparture items have to be collected BEFORE THE DOOR IS CLOSED on West metal? Not a lot of time to gulp it down.
Also, no overhead bins closed until boarding complete? Exit safety briefing done AFTER everyone onboard? Sometimes its seems like an eternity getting a West plane out on time.

According to our Manual.. the A FA cannot technically go past FC while on the ground. She/he was following procedure. Though, I know of a lot of people who do.. I'm guilty of it too.

Its the COMPANY CABIN INSPECTORS rule.

By COMPANY CABIN INSPECTOR, do you mean they work for HP or the FAA? Also it amazes me how many Overzealous FA's confuse company policies for FAR's.

Perhaps, but I still still she looked pretty moronic on her knees crossing her arms in an X yelling at the gate agent. Yes, it was a 737.

Whether or not it is a safety procedure, I am not precluded from discussing it on any board. I am NOT an airline employee. And after seeing the circus act on HP flights, I would not want to work on HP metal!

And, YES, USCREW, that is one of the great things about UA and US--lots of educated FA's--and if not school educated, very experienced and worldly. Let's just say, things are little different out West.

Look Maw...now I'm a Flight Attendant. No more overnights at the 7-11 for me. WOO HOO!

How bout them bags of peanuts, we can give em out at Halloween. Does you git to fly for free?

Well you know, I did feel like I was on the space shuttle before we pushed back from the gate with all the commotion and checking and safety dialogue going on.
