I just worked with a former "EAST" F/A - Many topics

<SNIP> She said, she only worked 1 trip a month there and she hated it because she would forget some of the policies, procedures and safety information.
Someone forgot how to do things after one month?

I wish I could tell you exactly what they do, but I was almost crying I was laughing so hard, I didn't get it all down. Let me tell you, when she got down on her knees and started crossing her arms, I almost peed myself--had the FA given me the whole mini, I probably would have.
Genuflection at 1L.

Well I wish a furloughed EASTIE ,that is now working out West, would fill us in on all the silly things the WESTIES are required to de.

Yeah, but from what i have heard it is a freak show out there... Who knows why they make you do that crap of talking to yourselves and other people but i for one will tell you that shiattt wont fly past phx or vegas - you must really be incomp. to have to put on a browdway play to push a lever, and the 767 - i mean come on --- Also this exit row crap about not going past the exit row will never go eaither - i would love to have a someone tell me not to go past the exit row - JOKE - -- This is all so stupid i really feel sick, maybe i need more sun.

Well if you do not follow the policies and procedures that YOUR union leaders are agreeing to, then you need to fired.

Working conditions, pay rates and benefits are negotiated. Safety policies are not. Insubordination should be a terminating offense.

Trust me as a westie we think some of our procedures are pretty stupid too. The problem out here is simple - it is called Inflight Mismanagement and Inflight Training. These two groups do anything to justify why they still have jobs. Half the time these new procedures are written by people with very little or no line experince. Then add to that mix, ghost riders who are management and selected f/f who also ghost ride and next thing you know if you have not followed all the rules you get called in and a letter is placed in your file. Not doing the overwing briefing, going past overwing, and not having 2 f/a in the front during pilot swap out will get you in major trouble. We always take the FAR's and make them 100 times more difficult than they have to be. Then we add even more stuff, like overwing, and it becomes a nightmare. I cannot wait for us to adopt some of the east's procedures. From what I have been hearing you don't re-invent the wheel every year. We do and having been doing it now for 23!!

Pardon me for saying this, but from the latest newsletter, it seems that the new west supervisors do not have a lot of inflight experience, and most do not have a college degree. I believe that both are requirements at east.

You mean to say, WAS a requirement? Isn't all hiring and such going through Tempe now? I know of a person in HR that goes to CLT/PHL all the time for hiring duties (interview, recruiting and such).

Wait until the passengers see it. I witnessed it this week and thought it was so pathetic I almost laughed, but then just really felt sorry for the little girl who was doing it. And the Easties think they have junior people, wait until they see who is working on the west side of the operation.

Why would you care about a procedure that has reduced our slide deployments to ZERO from the FAs.

Its pathetic that you would laugh at a FA doing a SAFETY procedure.

We will see how the "west" door disarming works. You are going to take a group of FAs who have been trained to focus on the door then start to talk to them causing a distraction from what they have been trained to do.

It will either work or not. Only time will tell.

Well, it was new to the West FAs too. A procedure that was built by NASA. And it reduced our slide deployments to zero.

It may look stupid, but it can save your job, so for the FAs that don't feel like they need to follow the procedure, better to look stupid than loose your job.

The procedure is full proof enough that, if done properly and completely you can't blow a slide or leave a door armed.
