Actually, the "on-time push" is a Dougie main concern, considering his potentially vast and considerable bonus.Another major problem is the enforcement of the 10 minute door close rule. Our customers are already running from gate to gate to make a 30 minute minimum connect time, only to find out they only have 20 minutes in reality. The response was that our on time performance has improved and that is one of the company's main concerns right now.
Personally, unless full, the door never closes before scheduled push time. The entire concept is flawed, basically admitting your scheduled block times and boarding times are fubared, but, instead of fixing that sweeping it under the carpet. If management is using the "ten minute" rule to ensure "slot times" either internal or external, why do they not simply change their requested slot times by ten minutes, making a seamless operation coherent with their posted schedule?
If management wants to fix something, they must at least start with real-time data. Changing "door-close" by ten minutes introduces errors that will make most any "solution" a pipe dream. I can understand a temporary change but this "rule" has been in effect since the late 90's.
