Spoke with someone who knows the pilot. Your description of the event is so far from what actually happened it's ludicrous. But, go right on believing that having an opinion automatically makes you an expert detective. I hope you get a whiff of oxygen soon.

Regardless of ones belief on guns what would the outcome have been if that gun went off at oooooh say thirty thousand feet? Or better yet if the gun went off and hit someone in the bathroom or galley. I'm sorry but nobody is getting through the new cockpit doors. I don't see the need for a gun up there. It was unfortunate that it happened but surely it won't be the last time this happens. Get rid of the guns.

We should only implement measures that will impede the bad guys and in the case of guns in the cockpit I think it was done to give the feeling of saftey without actually making things safer.

Here is an idea so bad it might actually be utilized. Where is Bremer when you need him......

I really dont think that the fear of getting shot is keeping them out of the flight deck , first thing is they have no fear, they are fanatics they will blow them selves up for no reason, and second if a aircraft is taken over again you think that the the proper miltary dept wont be called? you having a weapon on the plane means nothing to them when you have 3, 4 or 5 people rushing the filght deck I dont care if you are a crack shot you cannot get that many shots of and kill all the intruders while sitting down before you are beat down so

I disagree you should be able to take out 4 or 5 people with no problem, you have over 30 rounds to do so, plus the cockpit door is to narrow to have all rush in at once, at least on the 73. your right if they decide to blow the plane up nothing is going to stop that, but at least they won't have contol of the cockpit and use the plane as they did on 9/11.
