Fedex Aquiring 737-300's

I know there are some noise issues with the new FedEx hub in GSO. Maybe 7373s are part of the solution.

FDX 727's are definitely 3-crew and I don't know of any 2-crew 72s. The DC-10s they converted to 2-crew (the "MD-10s")

Now that would be a weird sight... a FedEx 737.

Its very true that there are loads of 737s to be had in the desert, so many that a few of ours were destroyed so the market isnt so full of them (it doesnt encourage new orders). So I dont see this happening... though it would be great if they could trade them for Airbuses and have a standard fleet (as long as they stop thier outsourcing mx monkey business)..

Once the E190 and E195 arrive (and of course they will), the 737s mission is over. Pull out your Attache and look at how many markets could be served by a standard fleet of 70-100 seat E-jets and 50 seat RJs. Only leaves a few Western, Carribbean, and LatAm destinations needing the Airbus.

And with fuel prices unlikely to ever come down--those pesky third world countries and China are giving up their beasts of burden and opting for automobiles-- I have read that the only airplane series that make sense presently are the E-jets and the Dreamliner. ALPA has such foresight, don't they?

Maybe, maybe not. There are a LOT of 737s sitting out there in the desert that can be had for a song and a dance.

Clearly, it makes sense for folks like UPS to get rid of their gas guzzling 727s. BTW, were the 72s converted to a 2-crew cockpit or is it still 3-crew?
Buddy of mine is still basking "in the pool" for Fedex, and you still start in the FE seat of a 72 (or he went and got his FE ticket, and I can't imagine why one would seek such a thing in this day and age.....).

Well, at least he didn't go get a Falcon type rating!

The ALPA Supplemental Restructuring Agreement prevents the EMB-170 from being included in the 279 fleet count.

Ok, I have to admit I am a little "confused" again......ALPA has a "contract" which prohibits induction of that A/C into the mainline fleet which you want U to adhere to, but when the IAM has a contract issue they should negotiate a settlement with the company even though they are under contract. I am beginning to understand where you are going.......................
