East Flight Attendant Furloughs Coming

And with the Mesa CRJ-900's (the website shows 38), 30 Republic 175's, and the 20 CRJ-900's they're dangling in front of PSA as a carrot (if they materialize), that'll come close to the limit....

I have heard from a very reliable source in PHX that there will be east flight attendant furloughs in 2006-2007. The company is planning on retiring the 737's with the 190's. The 190's have one less flight attendant which will result in furloughs. Also means reserve will be pushed up even more.

My reliable source says:

No current furloughs

No December recalls

The emb-190 is NOT a replacement a/c.......it is a expansion a/c......no plans to further shrink the fleet.

Possible base consolidation, which would lead to displacements, and f/a's quitting.

Hard to furlough and shrink when you make profit, and have a value higher than AA.

Some numbers.....

As of 6/30/06, East had 224 mainline aircraft, West 135.

The ALPA transition agreement calls for the minimum fleet count to be set on 9/27/06 at 90% of the then active fleets (rounded to nearest whole aircraft).

The investor guidance issued on 7/7/06 called for a combined fleet count of 257 aircraft at the end of 2006 (not counting the 3 190 deliveries in 2006).

The 190 delivery schedule calls for 3 in 2006, 8 in 2007, and 14 in 2008.

257? That's about 100 less than now. Typo?

It is amazing to me how many airline people just love to yell fire in a theatre when they become frustrated, bored or lonley. To some people a reliable source is a friend, who talked to a ramper, who was non reving, siting next to a lawyer who........................................

Your "reliable source" is full of bovine feces.

How do rumors get started, they're started by the jealous people and
They get mad seein' somethin' they had and sombody else is holdin'
They tell me that temptation is very hard to resist
These wicked women, ooh, they just persist
Maybe you think it's cute, but girl, I'm not impressed
I tell you one time only with my business please don't mess

Look at all these rumors surroundin' me every day
I just need some time, some time to get away from
From all these rumors, I can't take it no more
My best friend said there's one out now about me and the girl next door

This is bullsh1t. There are voluntary furloughs coming on both east and west like there is every fall. Nothing to flip out about. How does one define operational integration? How will it work if the FA's have seperate contracts?

From DP's own mouth during Town Halls and Crew News,
B-737 will probably stay. As each 737 lease comes up for renewal(about 10 in 2007)a decision will have to be made. DP said if he were a betting man he would bet they would stay.Money has already been allocated to fix long term(lap joints)problems on the 737. Of course this is all subject to change if another 9/11 event comes along, etc, etc, etc. The 190's give him the needed flexibility/leverage to negotiate 737 leases in his favor. Total aircraft count excludes 190's per TA. His hands are tied after Sept 06 to predetermined A/C amount which would not allow parking all 737 fleet. All this information(exceptTA) is available to everyone on the Hub. And no, I will not go back into the Hub to verify or give references for the naysayers, you will have to do a little work on your own.

If you just use a little common sense you would have to realize parking the entire 737 fleet is crazy!

Well with the way the unions are dragging their feet on the integration process, it will be a long way off./quote]

The company is the one who is dragging their feet on the integration process, not the unions, because they want concessionary contracts, which isn't going to happen in the face of these kind of profits.

The company always contols when negotiations are complete. They could finalize them in the next few weeks with everyone, IF THEY WANTED TO, but they don't. You and your source have no credibility. Try again.

that means roughly 102 airplanes will be removed (of course what about the urge to merge (see WSJ report of DP "feeling out" DAL for merger) 102 airplanes x 13 pilots per would mean about 1300 excess pilots.

then add your deliveries in call it 11 thru 2007 11x = 143 back on or just under 1160 excess (thru 2007) minus age 60 retirements call it 200 still leaving 900 plus excess soley based on guidance from company in latest release.

no?
