Envoy: How Mellow Dramatic

I may be one of the most pessimistic customers when it comes to viewing this airline in a positive light recently. This is why I've achieved mid tier status on both AA and UA and completely given up on US.

But I'm also going to keep an open mind. Lest we forget that CO was a real crap airline once. Their premium product also sucked. Ditto for Delta. The recent enhancements and improvements on DL were only over the last few years.

Can you at least *try* to be a *little* bit enthusiastic? The 767 upgrades are exactly on par with AA, DL and CO premium TA service (none of whom have fully lie-flat seats in J either). The difference will be the amenities, meals and SERVICE. Of course, they also have a good domestic premium service, so hopefully Tempe has some coordinated efforts planned to make a MCI-PHL-LGW passenger feel comfortable on all his/her legs.

I agree with you 110% -- all people like to do is be pessimistic and think poorly of US. I reserve judgment for when the product is shown and when people attend the new service training. For the time being, I say bravo to US for finally recognzing and admiting the problem and doing something about it.

I really hope that this new service training will help change the attitudes of some of the flight attendants who work these trips. I flew as a passenger on 3 round trips to Europe on our airline in the past few months, 4 of those legs in Envoy. Only one crew out of 6 actually acted like they gave a damn, and attended to the passengers the way they should. The rest cut every corner imaginable, including the one duo who we nicknamed Prison Guard 1 and Prison Guard 2 for the way they never smiled, never talked, and rarely did anything in the Envoy Cabin that didn't relate to the crossword or the romance novel they were reading in the galley. Asking for a refill on a wine glass was met with a snarl and a scowl.

The company can change out seats, introduce new airplanes, put all sorts of ameneties and products aboard the aircraft, but it is ultimately up to the crew to deliver or fail. I am sure there are great flight attendants out there who really want to do a great job like the one crew that I had, but it seems they are out numbered by the lazy, and I wonder if those people will ever get it in gear.

Well said. One thing that helps is new hires. I think US saw a surge in its customer service performance in the late 90s because of all of the new hire FAs. I am sure I might be attacked for saying that -- but a lot of the FAs hired in 88 and 89 were bitter and had been through a lot (although not nearly as much as those hired in 98, 99, 00, and 01 mind you). Let's face it -- young kids with no prior airline experience really do drink the Kool Aid in new hire training and come out on the line focused on policy and procedure, etc.

Someone who volunteers her time with DCA in flight told me that she heard FA supervisors on the east were studying America West's target selection process for flight attendant hiring. Why they would have to study the way west hires FAs is beyond me -- but still, it makes you wonder if they do not anticipate hiring off the street sometime in 2008.
 
Who does she think she is? Ohhhhh I'm strictly domestic anymore. You can have that crap. I DID the division and it's NO COMPARISON today. Not by a long shot.

Let me tell you something ITESTWRONG....You are certainly one of those that now hop on Int'l because you can. Probably one of those that cut corners as well I'm sure. Your lackluster attitude toward ANYTHING brought up shows a bit. And what would make you think I whined all the way to MAN? Just another airhag.......moving on.

Some are right on here. I will digress for the moment and see what this "All American" deal is. But, faith and trust are earned not bestowed and thus far they have done nothing to instill my faith that they wont jack up Envoy even worse.
 
While I'd like to be optimistic about the changes the track record speaks for itself people. Do you think that management had some sort of Epiphany and NOW will give the envoy customer what they want or deserve for their money? C'mon already. I'm sure the SEAT will be standard yet NEVER industry leading. Industry leading to lowering the seating in Envoy from 24 to 18 then take 1 out for crew rest and your at 17. Now we'll be throwing salads at them and American flavor food. My god people.....whatever your smoking I'll be sure to skip out on as it passes around. WOW.

Certain issues? Dude, reread your posts. You can find time to post negatively about trash bags! I swear I could never ignore ya because you have given us hours and hours of entertainment on here. Can't you go any lower? Come on, debbie, try! :lol:
