Heard it today that AA want the mechs to accept a 2 year extension! Better be with everything back from our old contract and at least 10% to make up for cost of living!!!

If they fall for this crap, it will set the tone for every other work group next year. I get the distinct impression that this lone issue will make it clear beyond any doubt what size cajones their union really has.

From the TWU negotiation committee:

"The TWU Negotiating Committee met in Fort Worth the week beginning September 10. Joining us on Monday was International President Jim Little, Secretary-Treasurer Joseph Gordon, and Acting Air Transport Director John Conley. As a result of a letter from Little to Arpey, the company approached the Negotiating Committee with a proposal to explore the possibility of seeking non-traditional compensation, and a possible contract extension. The Presidents Council authorized the International to appoint a sub-committee to examine the company’s proposal for a period of two weeks. Any proposal would be subject to th e entire Presidents Council approval before being presented to the membership for ratification. In the event that the proposal would be rejected by the Presidents Council, the Negotiating Committee has been instructed to continue its processes of preparing for full negotiations."

The TWU has formed a sub-committee (sic) to explore, starting Monday, the possibilities of non-traditional compensation and a two year extension. HIngley, Rodriguez, Luis, Drahms, Plowman and Gilboy.

Non-traditional? What the.........?

.

For the TWU, maybe "non-traditional compensation" actually means a raise!

I think "non-traditional" means the company gives us tee shirts instead of the TWU. We will be paid in certificates that are redeemable at the Company Store. That will be our raise.

Why wouldn't the International allow the membership to explore the company proposal?

All you damn AMFA Bashers out there piss and moan about AMFA not allowing a vote on the final NWA proposal. What about not even letting the membership see the AA proposal?

<_< ------- "Non-traditional compensation" could mean a bonus plan tied to stock performance. Or another stock option plan. Or none of the above!

We should be able to explore anything the company "wants".

But if the company wants an extension plus "non-traditional compensation" then the exploration should be a very short walk. Remember LEAP? That was non-traditional. All that did was pit one station against the rest.

What doesn't the company understand about simply giving back what was taken plus a % raise? I do not want slogans, "shared gains", etc. I deserve fair compensation for what I provide. I am tired of living under life changing concessions while management gets fat.

   AMFA did that????

Have you asked to see the proposal???

It has already been established in court that Little can decide by himself on our contract. The so-called "negotiating committee" and the "subcommittee" to review the company's offer are little more than putting lipstick on a pig.

It will be another Sweetheart Contract

Interesting to say the least.

Jim Little writes a letter to Arpey. Little just back stabbed the Negotiating Committee by his actions. My vote will be a NO vote no matter what dollar value is placed on this deal with his name any where on this deal.

The Negotiating Committee had to know, going in, that it would be Little's show. They were just expense-account extras in a sham play.

It will be another Sweetheart Contract

Sweetheart contracts were done away with long ago. Clearly, by documented definition, AA is not running or sponsoring this union, although many of you seem to have your doubts about AA running Mr. Little.

So, since they were done away with, you're probably right. Who knows what goes on in the dark and vile places labor unions and big employers scurry to like rats when they want to blow one another. Of course, the hold out is always the same - who swallows first! Sounds as if everyone is worried Mr. Little is going to come away with a belly-full yet again.

If AA can manage to wrangle a 2 year extension on the existing contract, that will leave them one less work group to deal with next spring, allowing them to focus on the pilots and the FAs which, as far as anyone knows, may have been offered a similar deal that hasn't been made public yet. If not, you can bet those two groups will be making every effort to extract as much as they can from AA, and they'll be happy to take the share Mr. Little leaves behind as well.
