Early Out Package

The system is stacked against us, "the working man". The judge will most certainly give the company what they ask for. We are screwed, it as simple as that. Loyalty, dedication and hard work have no place in todays business. Good luck.
Do you and Red want the rich to give you the money that they earned, then go to Jim Little or one of the many secretaries at the International.

As a retiree since 2004, I'm "diggin' the shiite" out of the part of....continuing retiree medical.

But as usual with AA..................Time will tell !

Brother as much as I would like to see it happen, you might as well forget it. The company is going to get rid of the AMTs and its not going to cost them anything! Game, set, match brother. We lose.
Laying off mechanics does cost, they pay in unemployment increases.

Point taken but I don't believe the company will be successful in getting the severance clause thrown out, protection yes, severence no, so it will cost them at least that.

Disagree. If the contract is abrogated, it's a pass-fail action. There is no line-item veto, no "one for you, one for me" exchange. The whole contract is gone, and the company essentially gets to decide how they want to rewrite it without you.

But let's assume that there was a "mother, may I" type decision.... You have the a precedent where the TWU waived it in 2003. How can you argue that it was OK to waive it then, but not now?...

Is the severance not a federal law?

Not that I'm aware of. Fair Labor Standards Act is pretty specific that there is no Federal requirement to provide severance, and that unemployment & severance are still the purview of the states.

The closest Federal protection I can think of is WARN, which could require severance in lieu of adequate notice.

The 'warn act' is pretty broad and actual warn notifications can be enhanced from state to state.
In commiefornia, your warn notice 'must' have the individuals name on it to be valid as of the date of notification.
Some states allow a 'blanket' (sent to everyone) warn notice as the date of notification.
Check your local and state laws regarding the warn act.
Don't be lazy and accept what your union/company says!
Been there, done that... :p

The only thing I expect from the rich is that they pay their fair share of taxes like you and I.
Don't know why you even brought up that random statment. And I guess I expect a company I've given 20 years to to honor what I signed up for.

Not an attack. I just become tired of the union using the people as a tool to further their financial goal. If you felt that this was an attack it was not intended that way. The theory that the Democrats or the Republicans in power are for anyone but themselves is laughable. As for the TWU International, they are only in this game for economic gain. It is a business as the unionism is long gone. I see the TWU International as a thief.

I brought up the statement because you seem have a habit on this board of bringing the rich to their knees because you do not care for their method of earning an income. It appears that you are playing the role of the poor under compensated Occupy Wall Streeters. I believe that your 20 years speaks for itself and you do not require the rich on either side of the political arena to make your way. I do not really believe you are one of the have nots. If you do not like the current form of revenue generation by the government then do what you can to change it. I favor the "Fair Tax"
