Delta also flies NON-STOP GSO-MCO, GSO-LGA

I don't see what the big deal is. There's nothing to stop US from flying GSO-CLT with mainline. Although, it would be very short flight which is probably why US doesn't fly it mainline.

However, DL's capacity push at GSO is not primarily aimed at US. It's aimed at Airtran....US just happens to be collateral damage in the battle between DL and FL.

Just for fact, DL flies from GSO to ATL,CVG,DFW,LGA and MCO.

USairways has always flown it with mainline until late, heavy loads also. GSO has always been a Piedmomt/Usairways strong hold, Delta now out boards U by a mile. Every time U pulls a mainline Delta adds one. Northwest is adding depts to DTW everytime U adds a RJ GSO-PIT????? Great business plan???

GSO was a mainstay in the PI route system from day one. There were flights to EWR, LGA,BOS and many others that I can't recall off the top of my head. I am not at all surprised to see us giving it away to the competition at DL. This company thinks that RJ's are the answer to all of their problems. No matter what they think or say, if the passenger has a choice they will take a larger a/c over the RJ. If DL is running them, there must be enough traffic to support the Mainline flying. Maybe we will go head to head with Southwest using RJ's too.

The GSO airport is growing, boarding are up, and Delta’s reaping the benefits. USAirways pulled their service out of the Winston Salem airport to focus on GSO, which was probably a good move. Why are they now giving the entire market to Delta? The Triad, (Greensboro, Winston Salem, High Point NC) community is one of the top 25 most populated regions in the United States. The airport is in the process of a major expansion, adding a new 10000’ parallel runway for a major FedEx hub. The community is predicted to boom as a result. It takes years to build up loyal frequent flyers in a market; this one belonged to U until about a year ago. GSO has a club and ranks very high, in number of Chairman’s that live in the community. Most of Delta’s growth has come at U expense.

Something is wrong with this picture!

It's not going to get any better.

As I posted some weeks ago, GSO is about to be reclassified a class II station. They already have an interim manager in place familiar with class II operations.

I believe IAD, CLE and CMH will soon follow.

That is sad.

I swear, at one point, I flew nonstop between GSO and IAH. Or was I just dreaming... PI of course.

Losing GSO to DL speaks volumes about the ineptitude of US management, and I don't just mean former management either.

And hereto lie the main reasons why employees are sick of riding the BOHICA bandwagon.[img src='http://www.usaviation.com/idealbb/images/smilies/7.gif']

After the merger, so many light years ago, many faithful Piedmont customers went to Delta from here in GSO. Many are my neighbors. U management ASSUMED that the passengers would stay at U after the disasterous merger. From that point on, it has been down hill for U here in GSO.

Forget the merger that was over ten years ago. U out boarded Delta at this time last year, for some reason U is pulling seats out, adding RJ's and Delta is eating it up??

ISN, perhaps a look at the fares from GSO to anywhere on US will give you an answer. Just look at RDU's fares vs GSO and CLT. That should easily show you why GSO is slipping. Your locals - who choose USAir - drive to RDU for a cheaper fare!!

This is the same mentality that the company used when they closed up mainline in ISP. They thought that all of our loyals would just drive thru the traffic to fly on us out of LGA.....guess what, wrong again as Southwest swooped into ISP to take more traffic away from us.

I don’t think so. In fact GSO fares are lower than CLT and RDU. Someone in inventory control must think that if they pull seats out of GSO people will fly out of CLT and pay the higher fares. They don't, they drive to GSO and take Delta. Delta servers GSO, RDU and CLT with the same equipment type. They are filling everything in sight up from all three cities. This company continues to make big mistakes, Delta has little to worry about. I have to give Delta some credit though, they stay on top of our blunders.

Delta isn't going to downgrade GSO anytime soon!
