CWA Labor Discussion 2/12---Labor Issues for CSRs ONLY

What to drive a manager in the station crazy? Start keeping track of everything that he/she says. Then pick out the ones that can show negativity or disrespect or even humor, write them down and send them to the region human resources manager and claim harassment and a hostile work environment. HR is mandated to investigate these charges completely and showing statements made by the manager, even out of context can get him/her fired faster then anything else.

HR could care less about hostile work environment. If they do care, an updated resume' is their only hope.

CO is offering a buyout and severance for their call and res centers..

Ppl are booking more online res.

They offered SEVERAL Buyouts~ What is with US?

CHEAPSKATES!!!

Question for those in the know,

exactly what is the "Passenger Service Employees Association" I saw it on the DOL site.. Is that

Jimmy's way of getting around the AFL-CIO by throwing the CWA/IBT into a shell union

John John or anyone in the know please enlighten

the union said they did not know that america west had part time css so they are not going to honor the contract which is a legal binding contract the union should have to honor their contract their fault if they wrote it wrong

How could they miss that? Hmm, a miscommunication for the "Communications Workers". Look, I agree that the station agents are better off with a union than without one. But the union could and should be doing a better job. SEIU anyone?

Agree that a union is a necessary evil, but not getting warm fuzzies from ANYONE at CWA. We have ongoing Local issues since last June with limited/no help from District (they are actually being a hindrance).
Also, someone fairly high up was in town last week to have a meeting with management (local and regional), company Workbrain rep and the Local Pres. So far, no report on what happened or what is being worked on. Also, you would think that the CWA rep would want to get out and talk to the agents, say hi, whats up, what are your issues, but not a word was said to anyone unless you went to them. Not really an impressive way to get the union folk involved, but then again, when you're the only game in town, you dont have to do much I guess.

Even if another union could do a better job, it is a very big undertaking. And the station agt group could wind up with NO representation.
Ya' Gotta Dance With Them That Brung Ya'

I have no faith in the CWA...did you ever read the newsletter from them? It never even mentions us, its all about telephone companies plus Velvet is a waste....I was done with them when they screwed the part timers hired under E scale. I finally got used to losing pay seniority from that and then came the pay freeze. Then they lifted the freeze but never restore our seniority so us on under the east coast contract are actually behind the west coast so we grieve it and guess what???? we lost!!! the judge said this is what your company and union intended at the time of the merger so now I am 2yrs behind a west coast agent hired the exact same day!!!!Am I bitter??? You betcha

Ive noticed that with all the newsletters.

They all get trashed..Not interested in VH's lack of representation..totally a waste.

This went to court????
Get involved with the process
The airlines are a small percent of the CWA IAM TWU IBT
Their national newsletters reflect accordingly
Run for office of your local. Be a shop steward. File a grievance when the contract is not followed correctly. Author some articles about your issues this can be very powerful. When negotiation comes around you can sit at the table. YOU HAVE TO GET INVOLED and be apart of the process to overcome the higher-ups. Godspeed to you we need some true leaders in CWA

An account of what happen at the meeting should be put out for all to see. CWA needs to put out information that pertains to agents regularly. I think ever local officers should get involved in this process. CWA agents lack mobilization and leadership

another thing abour css under reduction in force it says if you are a css, does not say full or part time css and you cant hold your css line than you will become a full time agent the union said they did not know that america west had part time css so they are not going to honor the contract which is a legal binding contract the union should have to honor their contract their fault if they wrote it wrong
wow...grieve this bad boy and do not give up!! THIS IS WROG and OH SO typical of our current union....sad....

This was one the few grievances that Velvet has brought to arbitration. She was poorly prepared, brought no witnesses, and the company ate her lunch. She has no business being in that position, but Cohen and the CWA don't care. She will be negotiating your new contract.

She was appointed by CWA prez Larry Cohen. Memberships concern about MS Velvet have been brought to King Larrys attention, who tells us, let them eat cake.

By the way, Velvet has a perfect record in the few arbitration cases she has brought against the company. She is 0 for 6.

So is there any way to have her replaced? Why is voting such an anathema to the CWA leadership. How would a concerned member express his/her feelings to Mr Cohen and the rest?
