In her recent election in 2010, the Congresswoman ran against a Tea Party Candidate. From Yahoo...

..."n June, the campaign of Giffords' Republican opponent in this year's midterms, Jesse Kelly, placed an ad that read: "Get on target for victory in November/ Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office/ Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly."

The website for Kelly, a former US Marine, depicted him with holding an automatic weapon...."

So an upset voter hears constant bickering on 24 hour news channels, both left and right, and some poor innocent 9 year old kid is gunned down. Something is terribly wrong in this country and this world when we've reverted back in to Middle Age thinking. It's gotten to the point that elections are non stop and the losing party won't accept the results. We are sacrificing our young for a political gain. Sad, very, very sad.

Gotta love the left, absent of any facts and with breakneck speed, they immediately pinned this sad and tragic event on the Tea Party, Sarah Palin, Glenn Beck, etc., even before the blood dried on the sidewalk. The depths of depravity, ignorance and sheer stupidity knows no bounds for the current liberal progressive movement.

Just as with the Discovery Channel eco-whacko, the left started howling only to beclown themselves when the facts came out.

So what are the facts about said shooter?

* He’s definitely not a tea partier, but another left-winger who likes watching US flags burn & favorite book is the Communist Manifesto.

* From a fellow classmate: He was reportedly left-wing, quite liberal.
As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal. & oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy.
I haven't seen him since '07. Then, he was left wing.

So no, he is not a Tea Partier, nor right wing. Rather this one the left gets to hang their hat on (once again).

From all accounts I have read the guy was just not wired right. Whether he was insane or not I guess remains to be seen. From what I have red he may not ave been acting alone and Giffords may not have been the target.

While I agree that what we see/hear can affect behavior, I think in this case that would be a stretch. You could have shown him fuzzy bunnies and pretty flowers and he probably still would have killed the people.

I think we will have to wait a bit to see what happens.

I find it amazing that she is responsive to doctors after being shot in the head. She got really lucky. I hope she pulls through. It's a shame that 6 people are dead.

A family friends tells FOX 11 News Rep. Giffords woke up from anesthesia & spoke to people in her room & recognized her husband Mark Kelly.

Truly amazing. Hope she makes a speedy recovery.

Looks like she is responding. That's a good sign. Although I guess there still could be damage like Brady (I think that is his name) had.

Giffords was listed in critical condition -- the bullet went straight through her brain -- but the hospital said her outlook was "optimistic" and that she was responding to commands from doctors.

Unfortunate that the other six people were not as fortunate.

I do think this event should be remembered and used to tell all people involved in elections that civility needs to be brought back to the playing field. While 99.9% of the people know that it is rhetoric when you say that opponent 'x' needs to be taken out, there is a segment of society that that will hear klaxons and man the stations for battle.

I saw an interview with Jerry Patterson and Hector Uribe. They are Rep and Dem yet they are able to have civil arguments and even travel together to various functions. Uribe actually complemented Patterson. Holy crap. The world even continued to spin. Go figure.

This is the way that elections should be run and as voters we should not reward negative behavior. Civil discourse seems to be a thing of the past and we need to bring it back.
