Combined Travel Rules

No, it means that everyone gets an equal chance of using a non job specific company benefit.

Does your years of service mean should you should get first choice of every single thing on the table and the rest of us get your leftovers?
Typical "I GOT MINE" attitude!

I agree, active employeees should go ahead of everyone else.

What's more important, commutting to work or your kids vacation?

At USAirways, we've closed 6 crew bases since I've worked there.

Do you expect people to uproot their kids lives everytime the company redisturbutes the flying?
I would like to point out that if you are not a flight attendant or pilot then your family IS uprooted when the flying is redistributed and stations are downsized.  We must live in the city we work out of.

Remember what we have endured over the past 30 YEARS as airline employee's. Then try and justify to me why a whiz kid with 30DAYS seniority boards the aircraft first just because they checked in 30 SECONDS before everyone else. DOH is not for everything but certainly is for non-reving.

It's really not that hard to be a "whiz kid" yourself.

Honestly, you'd think the sky was falling.

If you have "endured" for thirty+ years you should retire or find another job. Being miserable in your employment is no way to go through life, it is way too short!

Sure, you feel that DOH should be the rule for non-reving ONLY BECAUSE THAT IS THE SYSTEM you are used to. Add that to the I GOT MY 30 YEARS and to all of a sudden lose that system of priority, it is understandable that you are angry. We at AA are used to FCFS..because that is the system we are used to.
Just remember that no matter how senior you think you are, there will always be someone out there with more!

When we all started receiving travel priviliges as new airline employees, I don't recall ever being told that is was a SENIORITY BASED BENEFIT.

For those that are arguing for seniority makes wonder how would you react to his situation.
Let's say that Disney worked the same way, have your entry ticket stamped when you walk into the gate. You walk in at 10:05am (seniority time). Someone (joe) else walks in at 10:00am (joes senority time). You walk up to your favorite attraction/restaurant and (joe) walks up right after you. After standing in line for 45 minutes, (joe) gets to jump in front of you just because he got there 5 minutes earlier. Would you feel that is fair, or would you prefer that you were in line first and should have gone first?

Of course they won't like your example and will come up with some reason why it doesn't make sense. Either way, it is a good example how stupid it is to use seniority for non-reving.

Jerk off what a loser !

What if in the Disney example, the guy who actually paid for the tickets was allowed to go to the front of the line, but if his wife or kids decided to separate, they would have to go behind all the people who physically paid for the tickets?... Or, what if Disney employees on their day off got to jump the line?

Seems to me FCFS is the simplest, fairest, easiest to explain system. It certainly requires the least amount of information for the gate agents to have to process, which in the end should be the only thing that matters.

And you're pretty senior too, right IOR? I think it should speak volumes that the senior folk at AA also support FCFS!
