Christmas Gift for Doug?

That's right, just drink the kool-aid and you'll feel all better.

Along with the soreheads and folks that just can't be made happy, I have read from a diversity of posters that raise reasonable points of concern or dissent.

Should they be sent to a re-education camp, or will a mere resignation suffice?

Dissenting opinions is absolutely needed. Problem with some of the dissenting opinions is #1 they are not backed up with facts or anything else of substance. #2 some people just want to whine for any reason and are not rationale. Whiners can be intolerable if left to ramble, but this is a free country and if they want to ramble...well there is always ignore. For those that have reasonable points of concern or dissent thank you for making us all aware of existing/potential issues/problems. Certainely not everything is peachy keen, but we ultimately will have to pull together as a team to survive the turmoil in this industry.

Dear Santa Clause (Doug),

If I cannot win the BIG ONE, and must still work for a living, this is what I would like:
1) A FAIR, DECENT,PRODUCTIVE CONTRACT
2) A NICE, INTELLIGENT, RICH HUSBAND
3) SAWYER FROM THE SHOW LOST...

Santa (Doug),
Since you gave yourself and all of the other executives a raise for your "job well done" with the merger, can there be anything else you could possibly want? There are flight attendants that want to send you cheese. I think that you can afford your own cheese. Many of us are still hoping to make the leap from CheezWiz to Kraft singles......contract, please!

Nice post hulagirl, however it should be pointed out that while other executives did get pay raises, DP did not.

Are you the self appointed protector of Doug. Practically, all your posting is defending him and his behavior. I think , he is a big boy, and can fend for himself we do not need you. I am sure you are one of his manager cronies

Eric's free to post whatever he likes (which are generally thoughtful/thought provoking). Albeit the raises were ill-timed, these guys are at the helm of a much larger company now, and their salaries are completely inline w/ like-sized companies. And DP did not get a raise - that's an undisputed fact. There's no need for anyone to defend him.

If the dissenting opinions are not backed up with facts, then, your intellect should be able to point out the correct direction, right?

Generally, whiners do so because they cannot articulate their bad feelings otherwise. Rather than bang on those who have problems communicating their problems like whiners, why don't you try to help them and you might actually find out that, while their articulations may not comport with your high bred demands, they may actually be right!!!

Believe me, "team" is well over-rated.

No. This "regular guy" gets a salary of $550,000 and he did receive 500,000 shares of stock at a strike price of $15.65 which is now trading over $34.00 per share. Should we do the math here? Uh...$17 Million. I believe the employees made that happen for Dougie and the investors.

I'd be happy with 100 shares in exchange for all the wage consessions, productivity enhancements, benefit reductions and pension dumping.

I think that Doug should provide these shares of stock to all employees in the next 2 years. 50% per year with full vestorship by 2008. Pilot group received 850 shares a piece, correct me please if i am wrong. Only labor group to receive shares of stock.

Will that happen, not as long as corporate greed abounds in the executive suties and BOD

Thanks for clearing the air on the real $$$$$$ made by D.P some just do not know. 😉
T-R-A-C-K R-E-C-O-R-D

Everyone has one..If D.P. can run the airline into a growing business, then, give him 500 more shares. The purpose of this thread was to protest some V.P.'s below him. If their track record was examined then they would owe us money instead of getting raises!!

No I am not his "self-appointed protector", and no I am not in management. As stated, the increases in benefits or pay, or both was ill timed, but why is it so hard to believe that a company employee likes their CEO? DP has made himself available numerous times, has communicated to us openly and he is liked by many employees. Many are grateful for what DP has been able to accomplish at AWA. Think about it. AWA remained relatively untouched by 911 and high fuel prices while much of the industry went into a tailspin. DP communicated to us and gave us reassurance while at the same time giving us the reality of the situation. How many CEOs bother to personally communicate to their employees? How many CEOs actually implement ideas that are presented by an employee at a townhall meeting? The man has earned my respect and the respect of many AWA employees. Now that we have merged he has a much larger job at hand. It will take time to earn the respect of US East and turn the new US Airways into a profitable airline....that's a given. Give it time. And if you get the chance, do yourself a favor and go to one of the townhalls schedule for this winter.

You are entitled to your opinion.

Every time you post DP did not get a raise and neglect to mention an 8 figure plus stock bonus (as in $10,000,000 plus) your credibility goes in the toilet.

I'm not very educated on executive stock options, but usually there are strict guidelines on what they can do with them and how long they have to hold them. These restrictions are usually put in place to give the executives incentive to manage the company to profitability. Not sure if this is the case as you have mentioned it, but what exactly are the details?

Don't you remember the government-backed loan that if we didn't receive said loan we would all be with different employers??? I remember that. We were close to being history with the likes of Braniff and PanAm. That is NOT "relatively untouched".
