cash cow adds $1000's to profit share checks for f/a's

With all due respect, I could not care less if you respect me or not. I am professional, do my job well, and simply do not care what a passenger thinks of me personally. As far as cheapening the profession, that's a bit of a stretch....

No, it cheapens the profession.

How about this: "stop pitching the credit card and get me my Gin and Tonic."

Normally, that would elicit the "we are safety professionals" line from any F/A who was on the receiving end of it... Problem is, if you want to pimp the "cash cow" then you have really admitted that your primary purpose on the plane is to sell the feaking credit cards. So yeah, it does cheapen the profession.

So stop pimping the cow and do your freaking job and freshen my drink.

As an aside, I voted with my $$$$ a long time ago. I go when US is the only airline that flies to my destination, or the cheapest for the class of service and city pair I require. That has amounted to a drop from greater than $50k/year of revenue to less than $10k. Which is more than you will make them pimping credit cards in your entire lifetime. I'm not alone.

Please keep this in mind. In 2004 (the last time I saw a figure), the company claimed the credit card added $400 MILLION in revenue a year to the bottom line! I'd bet it's still that much or more. So, without cash cow, our yearly profit would be reduced significantly.

I believe other employees actually owe the cash cow people a thank you for adding revenue to the bottom line and they deserve every extra penny they got from their W-2 amount. Everyone would have received less without us pushing the card.

Good, then go away! Post on that Airline's board.

Good! See ya! Cheap ticket, cheap service. Here's the thing- doesn't seem like the company could care less about your 50K. Nether could I- my profit share was crap and so is my paycheck. Cash Cow is my bottom line. Go fly someone else, no tears here. :)

If you really voted with your money you'd pay a premium. You don't- you still choose US if it's the lowest fare.

. . . . The only reason I haven't raised Holy Hell is that you folks get some much deserved extra money.
Oh dear. You mean you still haven't noticed?

You raise Holy Hell about EVERYthing and . . . (this is awkward) . . . no one (i.e., Tempe) seems to care.

Sorry to have to be the one to point that out to you so bluntly. I thought you had figured that out by now.

You need reading comprehension beyond the script for the credit card sales--"class of service."

That's usually a Y/YUP/A4 or envoy/biz fare. I generally don't do the cheap stuff even on my own dime, since I never know when I'm going to have time to get away.

All kidding aside--get a job selling something--you would make more money, spend more time at home, and not piss off the masses who are trying to get from A to B and not listen to the pathetic pitch for the credit card.

Now in the meantime, do your freaking job and freshen my freaking drink, since I'm going to need it to listen to the stupid credit card ad again.

(I love how US made money soley by slaughtering your wages back 20 years and you guys are proud of actions that are driving off the last of your premium revenue. You are in for a rude shock when the "shrink the fleet and slaughter your wages" stops working and you have pissed off all the people that don't buy the $59 fare to MCO....)

Yawn..................... Keep whining, (looking at my W2  ) You voted with your dollars, blah blah, so why are you still posting? Move on soon..... Bitter is not such a pretty color on anyone, Clue.....(oh, and you *might* want to think about the next G & T... is it making you angry?) Smooches....

There ya have it. Revenue..... Sorry, Clue, your "refreshed" gin and tonic will have to wait. After all, you have had 2 on the ground and 3 in the air, and you are starting to become bleary eyed....  Pull it together; we *are* routing for you.....

sky high states: FLYING has changed forever. Airlines are looking for sources of Revenue, just like the EMPLOYEES who have taken HUGE CUTS. Is it annoying? Personally, I'm tired of hearing it. So, I'm sure the frequent flyers find it annoying by now as well.

THEY SHOULD OF incorporated the "announcement" into the LEVEL OFF video and said, if interested, see one of the flight attendants during the flight. GONE WOULD BE THE lengthy and downright overdone announcements F/A's seem to make up. GONE WOULD BE THE F/A's in the aisle "looking" like salespeople.

Once again, something that wasnt very well thought through.

only stating opinions.

I don't advocate taking money away from frontline employees. I loathe Tempe for incenting employees to shill in such a blatent fashion to a captive audience. I am annoyed about such lies as:

"Specially marked for this flight" (eg, I get the money)

Lies about the "unlimited upgrades."

And "the miles that almost get you a free ticket anywhere" (good luck using them).

I am further aggrevated in that I did not buy a plane ticket to be exposed to an additional 5-10 minutes of advertising and the "door to door sales pitch" coming down the aisle two or more times in a flight.

If you want to sell stuff, do us all a favor and do it door to door when you don't have a captive audience. If you "Cash cow," don't expect so much as a modicum of respect from me or anyone else about "being primarily there for my safety," either. It cheapens the profession.

The best move I have ever seen is on a flight from LGW where a gentlemen in Y stood up, turned round, and announced to the entire Y cabin that "they get paid for every application--just keep it in mind." Bravo, I say.

I FIND IT AMAZING THAT THIS ANNOUNCEMENT ANNOYS ANYONE.....

MOST FLYERS TUNE OUT THE SAFTY DEMO, THE ANNOUNCEMENTS TO TURN OFF THE LAPTOP, CELL PHONE, IPODS, ECT.....

BUT THEY COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS ONE.

ALL I HAVE TO SAY CLUE IS GET A LIFE....I CANT TELL YOU HOW MANY TIMES I HAVE HAD TO TELL YA TO DO SOMETHING AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT WAS MADE.

Well folks I received a cool extra $400.00 in my 30th check and I'll keep pushing the card until the cows come home. I know when to and not to do the card unlike some. Making less money due to a reserve system that prevents you from flying and in turn receiving a lower profit sharing check than a blockholder is WRONG. Gaining a little extra cash with the cashcow program to raise your W-2 is optional and fair. It's a choice. Being reserve and getting screwed out of your profit sharing wasn't.

Yes, in fact you do.
With all due respect, I could not care less if you respect me or not. I am professional, do my job well, and simply do not care what a passenger thinks of me personally. As far as cheapening the profession, that's a bit of a stretch.... Does not matter to me what you feel concerning my profession, either. I would never dream of judging another person according to their profession. Do you yell at the Starbucks barista when they ask you if you would like a muffin with the latte you ordered? After all, they receive bonuses based on their sales!
Scream and yell all you want; we are used to hearing pax yell and scream at us, especially with the Super Savers in YC these days. (It always entertains the other passengers that aren't so hotheaded.... ) Does not change the fact that I made a lot of welcome $$$ with the program.

Take care!
itestwell, don't listen to this fool.
