Bye bye Tulsa

What is a tragedy these days is how many of you have degraded and dismissed the welders and machinist in this industry, yet AA cannot find any to hire and they attempt to upgrade but mostly fail. Not to mention there are billboards along the highways in Tulsa about welding and machinist jobs, and nearly every good paying company in the area has head hunters being paid to recruit these skills. Not that welding, and machining means anymore than your A&P, but the fact is these skills are much harder to hire or replace than yours are right now.
Read one step further. AA wants to outsource your job to a business that it only has to write a check to when they need it. They want a small core to maintain critical ops and outsource all jobs that do not have an immediate impact to daily ops. AA doesn't care of XYZ welding pays $50 and hour. They only want to write the check for the hours they use and no overhead.

Surprise! Surprise!--------Doesn't the membership pay dues to the TWU to take care of things like that? Or is that too embarrassing a question to ask?

I will assume that when you say Tulsa, OK is the low wage capitol of the nation you are referring to cities AA actually services. I will agree with your analysis that most companies do not want to hire a furloughed AA mechanic (or any furloughed AA employee for that matter). It is true that MOST of the time they will go back if recalled. Is that really different in any other city though? I kind of doubt it.
AA had a furlough list of several hundred in NY, maybe a dozen came back, so yea, outside of Tulsa when AA lays people off most don't come back, they move on, often to much better jobs.

If AA wanted that they would have it, what's stopping them ? You? The reason why they don't outsource more is because they would be paying the overhead and the profit for another company, profits that come out of AA.

Duh.....

Now, what's your beloved TWU doing to stop it?

Shiiit $20 gets you a nice home, boat to run in those muddy lakes and a brand new puck up to haul it!

You have no solution, TWU has no solution, so why do you keep pretending anything different is fact?

We should be thankful that only a small handfull of koolaid drinkers post here. The rest of us see through it all and manage to counter the lies and deceits. Only the koolaid drinkers and the fear mongers fear change from within which has failed repeatedly and a total change of unions because they have agendas. When they can not defend the actions of the TWU they attack others as well as other unions. UA under AMFA was in BK and their hands were tied. AMFA gave up less than we did in and outside of BK. NWA had a plan to eliminate 58% of their jobs regardless of which union or how the vote went. Strike or no strike their jobs were gone. AMFA was the union on the property so it is easy to blame them. Instead of trying to make change for our profession including all unions representing M&R, the TWU, IAM and IBT worked against us and then blamed AMFA at NWA for the job losses. Well how about all the job losses here at AA so far and many more to come under the TWU's negotiated watch? Who are you going to blame for that?
The TWU has always been a reactive union in our issues. They only worry about their own deals and cozy relationship and benefits with the company for the International officers. We on the other hand have no say. Deals are part of negotiations but you have to make deals for the benefit of the TOTAL members not just the International officers.
Time for change.

AMFA resign campaign should start January 2014. Why wait for the TWU to tell you more change is coming with the new regime?

The TWU fears AMFA that is why they always bash them when they realized their own house has failed them. Again REACTIVE not Proactive. Another long lists of TWU failures for the membership.

Well said. Good points. I just hope the NMB will come back with a positive answer to the appeal. It would be nice for a change to run an AMFA election without interference by an outside source coming in to "help" the TWU against AMFA. If not by the NMB decision, the one year mark is right around the corner. Good luck to you guys. I have a lot of respect for you guys staying strong and focused with all the BS coming at you guys from all directions, including AA themselves. I think it's finally AMFA's turn at AA. And with all the collusion between TWU, ibt and AA, and maybe even others, it really does show how scared not only the unions are, but how bad the company is willing to work with the existing and outside unions to keep AMFA off the property, it just speak volumes to how bad you guys need AMFA in there. Good luck!!!
