BAGGAGE HANDLERS THREAD

Did you not see it?

Its about over a $3 to $4 raise over the life of the contract, plus retro pay.

You dont have a full say in a 401k either, you only can choose from the options offered in the plan, not everything in the world.

And a 401k is your own money from your check, a DBP isnt.

And how did those 401ks do in the stock market downturn?

so that 80 dollars paid by the company to the IAMNPF is what ? not my money ? then why is the company paying it ?? the union negoatied it right ? much like they might a company match via 401K ...

you know i'd much rather lose money in the 401K because at least I have SOME say so over the matter and some control vs having NO control and NO say so with the IAM pension ... the very nature of the IAM pension is a Ponzi scheme .... without new members it WILL fail ... and when it DOES fail , you'll end up getting less and less as the Pension management constantly cut the size of checks they send out to the people drawing pensions ... everyone will take a cut together ... and it won't matter what you were promised by the pension fund long long ago because the law will back up their cutting your pension check someday , not to mention good luck finding someone to sue for selling you a pipe dream pension ... the guys who run the pension , I bet they all have 401K's ... and when the bottom drops out on ours , good luck touching them , the law will protect them and hold them blameless for all that befalls the IAM pension .

The company doesnt contribute $80 per member, you dont even read your own CBA?

Come back when you can read and comprehend what the plan is.

I see your posting Tim's lies now?

Prove its a ponzi scheme?

If it was the government would have thrown people in jail all ready, and the plan is 105% funded.

I read the IAM141 - UAL Tentative Agreement highlights, looks pretty good to me.

You know what I like best about it? Once approved, it's a legally binding agreement without the phrase "can be modified at any time, for any reason" all over the place...

Looks weak on scope a lot of city’s not mention
Lots of cities that can go by the wayside in 2016, and some of them have a lot of Mainline activity.

Yes to both of you. That jumped out at me as well... I'll be curious to see what the amendable date is.

FWIW, maybe I just read the graph(ic) wrong, but vacation max at DL is 4 weeks. Some hired in 1988 or earlier have their 5th week grandfathered in...

Also, medical rates for both AW & BW employees are the same...

Enough.

You don't like the IAM pension. We get it, and that's certainly fine. At least know what you're talking about, though...

He can't know what he is talking about. He hasn't read his contract and digested it.

That's the same guy who voted himself a raise while letting the company outsource many outstations.

I just read our contract AND united's and it's WORSE than I thought , I see the company pays a dollar an hour to the IAMNPF for us ... so if you work 40 a week , that's 80 dollars a pay period for us bi-weekly US air people .... which means the company pays 160 dollars a month to the IAMNPF .....

and guess what , UNITED doesn't have the IAMNPF anywhere in their contract ...

I like the United contract in some aspects ..... but in others I don't like it ... that retro pay is only 3 percent ... that's not much for years and years of waiting for a new contract ....

Are you sure you read your contract?

Because for over the past five years its been $1.05.
Full Time Employees
Hourly Pension Rate of $.95 cents
Hourly Pension Rate of$1.00 effective 7/4/05
Hourly Pension Rate of$1.05 effective 7/2/07
Also in your CBA:

The Company is obligated to contribute at the agreed rate and does not guarantee that agreed rate will provide the current benefit.

And you certainly dont know how to read a highlight sheet, per the sheet:

Defined Benefit Pension
S-CO – Maintain CARP
S-UA – Maintain 6.5% contribution rate to IAM National Pension Plan
Defined Contribution 401k Plan
Matching 401k for ALL members, up to 3% of compensation
You really need to learn how to read and comprehend.

By the way, thats a highlight sheet, not their whole CBA, you think their CBA is only three pages?

I was reading the old contentinal contract on the iam 141 site ...

well a 3 percent contribution to the 401K in addition to the IAMNPF ... wow ....

ok now their contract is STARTING to look good to me ...

but still , that money going to the IAMNPF is completely wasted .. even with this new contract our fellow brothers and sisters at united STILL don't have a choice in the matter as to if their money goes to the IAMNPF or not ..... those monies could be spent on their 401K ...
