And now reports of ballots at the PO that may have arrived in time. Its going to take a while to sort this out.

The latest word is that Katherine Harris has taken charge of the recount.

And continuing the analogy, John Ward will follow George W. Bush's example and run his "presidency" on the assumption that he won a landslide victory.

Well what does how you run the office have to do with how many votes you won by?
I always thought that any game was won by having more points not by how many more points you had.?.?.?.?

Recount began at 1300. Eight tables with all sorts of oversight at each table. They are checking into everything, dues current, ballot not in secret envelop, etc. They are not counting by base. 14000 ballots divided by eight equals about 1750 ballots per table. Iformed sources say it will be after midnight.

The difference is between having a mandate and having a majority. I know, I know, you will claim this is merely a word game but in the fullness of time, it's politically dangerous to assume you enjoy a comfortable mandate when in reality, all you have is a "majority" of less than one-tenth of one percent.

They did count by base with the exception of IMA and LGA which were counted as one. John Ward won by 5. Counting finished around 330am or so.

American flight attendants re-elect top union leader

FORT WORTH _ John Ward won re-election to the presidency of American Airlines' flight attendants union by a razor-thin margin Friday, after an often-bitter election that ended in a recount when intial results were too close to call.

Ward, who has presided over the Association of Professional Flight Attendants during what have been arguably the most tumultous years of the airline's history, defeated challenger Tommie Hutto-Blake by five votes out of nearly 15,000 cast, union officials said Friday. Now, he faces a difficult job in healing a demoralized union that remains divided over last year's concessions package.

As an additional challenge, he will be joined by three new national officers, all of whom ran on a slate opposing him. Challengers Brett Durkin, Greg hildreth and Cathy Hermann will be the union's new vice president, secretary and treasurer, respectively.

The vote was finalized Friday afternoon, after a recount of the original results. On Thursday, the initial results showed Ward winning by a seven-vote margin against Hutto-Blake.

Yes, a clean campaign is refreshing. Here's to the THB slate for their attempt to make a union a union again.
