APFA Constitutional Amendments

Good luck challenging it. If you are on a leave of absense you must pay dues in order to vote. Currently, furloughs may vote without having to pay dues. How is that right?

If you don't want to vote, don't pay. If you don't pay monthly while furloughed you're in for a large payment if you get called back after a significant length of time.

I don't think furloughs should be voting at all so this, to me, is at least a step in the right direction.

According to APFA furloughees are not entitled to representation as they are not employed. Now they must pay dues upon recall for services never receiced? How is that right.

How is it right APFA decided in the past you do not have to pay dues to vote while on furlough, but now have changed their minds. How is that right?

I guess we'll see if it is right when the vote results come out.

Good. More money to fight your endless, nonsense, lawsuits with.

I totally agree with the proposal that you must be be paying dues if you want to vote.
There are many f/a's that took leaves and by doing so they are saving more juniors flight
attendant jobs. Per the APFA constitution f/a's on leaves are require to continue to pay
union dues.......Why should a flight attendant that is furlough have the right to vote on union
matters makes no sense to me. If you want to be able to vote it is very simple;
pay your monthly dues like everyone esle.......I do not know if all the proposals that the
APFA is putting forward will pass, but this one will....

Flight attendants on furlough are allowed to vote without paying dues. Half of APFA never votes anyway.

That issue for me is ......making them pay....well, owe dues while they are on furlough.

It's not a TWA or NAAtive issue....it is just flat out unfair to those on furlough no matter what their background.

It's a no vote from me.....no it's a what are you smoking ...hell no .....vote from me.

No matter how you try to explain away they are still represented....noone cares two craps about the furloughees except a little note at the bottom of the hotline...that says X number of furloughs are still furloughed.

I'll grant you that they shouldn't be able to vote while on furlough....but then they shouldn't have to pay dues either while on furlough ...you can't have both....at least not to get my vote.

NO NO NO!!!!!

Let me make sure I have the argument right.

Furloughs shouldn't have to pay dues because they may never be employed again.

Furloughs should be allowed to vote with active employees for active employee contracts, without paying dues, even though they may never be employed again.

Is that right?

All we are saying is if you are furlough you should not be allow to vote......I totally agree with furlough f/a's should not be force to pay union dues.....but if if they want the right to vote on union elections they should pay uniond dues like everyone else.....that is the proposal that the APFA is putting and I am confident that it will pass.

Honestly, do people really think one should be allowed to vote on your work rules that they may never work under or even have a deisire to come back. I would hope if one did pay dues to have the right to vote they would vote in the best work rules and not a maleficent vote and yes as far as I know, no other union lets furoughed/layoffed members vote. Regarding the due's increse ask the pilots how their dues are based, or other workers that are union members and ask them if they have a 1-800-399-UNION to call when they need help with an issue, it's do it and grieve it.

Constuctive replys only, snark..leave it to yourself.

No......I am saying, if you don't want them to vote fine ....I am on board for that. But what is sounds like they want to do is 1) not let them vote, and 2) If /when they come back they have to pay dues for the whole time they were out. THAT IS NOT RIGHT.

Butch.
