The change that the APFA Constitutional Revision Committee proposes be made to the Membership requirements (Article II) contains a PR time bomb.

Article II, Section 4.B, paragraph(4) states that "Any member who is on any leave of absence for any reason [italics mine for emphasis] other than unpaid sick leave shall remain on active status and remain obligated to pay monthly dues on a current basis during the leave."

That means that any flight attendant who is a member of the reserves and is called to active duty to serve their country must continue paying their monthly dues to APFA in order to remain in good standing.
Way to go Constitutional Revision Committee!

Jim, just another lawsuit. I guess APFA loves to be mired down in litigation. The village idiots are alive and well. Oh....I can't say that if this goes through. I will be expelled from the APFA.

Now if thats not SPIN, the word really needs to be redefined.
You reached REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY deep for that one, but if u try hard enough I know you can make up one more ridiculous than that one. 😉

Lateral, I have seen lawsuits won on just wording. One should be careful what one spins. My dad is a litigator and I showed him Jim's post and the proposed changes and yes there can and probably would be some legal ramifications to these changes.

Latreal, call it what you will, but my brother the US Army retired Lt. Col, my nephew the USAF Major (currently flying F-16s in the Middle East), and my niece, the West Point Cadet (class of '08) would call it low down dirty politics toward the military.

Shafting the armed forces of the USA can NEVER be called "just on oversight."

jimntx,

If any f/a votes yes to change the APFA Constitution, then they will suffer just as we will. The AAPFA oops I meant the APFA and John WAArd wants total control of all f/a's. Thanks to the DFW and LAX f/a's we have to live with John Waard for another 4 years. We truly only have one hope left and that they let those few ballots be deemed valid and we can get Waard out of office. Yes, we can try to recall him but those f/a's in DFW and LAX will vote to keep his ugly a** in office. I wonder how much money Waard gave to f/a's to get their vote.

Having to pay dues on inactive status is the biggest piece of crAAp I have ever heard. Let's see the AFA, TWU for f/a's, IAM for f/a's and PFAA don't make their members pay dues on inactive status. But then again they are not run by a sell out union president.

If this passes then our careers are done!

VOTE NO, YOUR CAREER DEPENDS ON IT!

How's this for ridiculous, Latreal.......

You have been fired seeking reinstatement and don't have to pay dues, while all of us pay for your representatioin. But, if you're called to active service, furloughed or out on a medical leave you're dues obligated. For all of you fools who want to vote yes, please tell all of us how much sense this makes?

It's a little hard for someone serving in the middle east on active military status to stay dues obligated. Besides this is the last thing on their minds.

The bottom line to this crAAp is that John WAArd doesn't want the former TWA people to have rights as flight attendants. To make it look like he is not singling them out he makes it so all furloughed and inactive flight attendants can't vote in any union election.

Only 20 days until we find out if those few ballots deemed invalid that actually were valid can be included in the final count. If they can be, it's BUH-BYE John WAARD! This will be the best thing to happen to this membership since it was founded.

If any flight attendant currently on furlough has received their ballot for the proposed changes to the APFA Constitution, please let us know. Something tells me John WAARD is going to try and not let furloughees vote on this and he can't do that.

Hotel, If I have to WALK to Useless, Tx. I will shove my vote down WAArdo's scrawny little neck and wait till his eyes bug out...
Hope you guys got your "phone trees" going...NOW.

Exactly WOZTWA, posting and bitching on this board does no good. Everyone needs to get on the phone and call friends if you are voting NO. Very few f/a's read these boards or the 4m.
